Winter Coat Trends for Fall and Winter 2009 and 2010

Warm Coats for Cold Weather Storm the Fashion Runways

When choosing a coat for this winter, think long. Leggings are in in Fall 2009, so the long coat is needed to offset the split shortness of the short sweater and leggings. A coat dress is another useful option for the cold season's outerwear options in 2010. Don't skip the split up the side for the boots, the best shoe down the shoe shoot this winter is the ankle boot. A fabulous match with dark leggings and a long plaid coat to go with this season's other hot trend: plaid.

In makeup this season, dark smoky eyes are in this winter, to match the long coats and the bohemian flair of the holiday season's coats, boots and hair. Short sweater dresses in greyscale offers a sophisticated look that you can dress up with fabulous accents such as brightly colored scarves, jewelry, and buttons.

Popular hats to help you keep warm this cold Winter fashion season include wool beret hats and Burberry hats. The plaid understated style of Burberry is hot on runways and in high-fashion malls in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Paris. Do not mix and match the plaid colors you choose, and do not overdo the patterns. If you have one object with a pattern on already, do not use another object with the same pattern, even if the pattern is close to the same.

This goes the same with coats. If your outfit already has a bright accent, use a muted or solid colored coat to bring it out. Make your coat part of your outfit. Even if it covers your outfit before you take it off, it needs to be part of an ensemble. Think of your coat as the wrapping for your wonderful winter outfit, the package. If you're top-heavy, choose a coat with designs low on the coat to draw attention away from your top. If you need to balance out your bottom with your coat, go for frills or big buttons up top.

Overall, go with what looks good on you and to you. Fashion is all about confidence, so no matter what you choose, work it, because you have to strut what you've got to look good this Winter 2010. Keep your head up and your smile bright, and walk with a spring in your step knowing you are warm and protected in your perfect coat, sweater dress, and weather-protecting stylish boots, which will carry you through until the thaw in March or April. Then, get ready for the spring wardrobe season.
