Winter Craft for Kids: Snowman Finger Puppet Family

Fun Craft for Kids with Snowman Appeal!

If your house is similar to mine in the winter, you currently have an abundance of mismatched gloves and mittens overflowing in a bin somewhere with no hope of ever being worn again. Well, that may be the case as far as wearing them goes, however, what about using some of these unwanted winter warmers for a neat winter project for kids involving a winter snowman finger puppet family? Like a snowman family made from the fingers of winter gloves? When I went through my own bin of these things, I got a few ideas for this winter craft project that I thought would be fun to create.

Supplies
1 mismatched white glove
Glue gun
Plastic wrap
Scissors
Small pom poms
Tiny pom poms
Yarn
Scrap felt for scarves and hats
Paint brush
Black acrylic paint

Instructions

Start by stuffing some plastic wrap into each of the 4 fingers of the white glove and include the palm portion as well. Secure the end with a twist tie or rubberband.

Next, cut a 4 pieces of yarn, approximately ½ inch in length and secure them with hot glue across the very top portion of each of the fingers. Then hot glue the tiny pom poms on each end of that yarn to represent ear muffs.

Cut 4 small triangles from the felt scraps and wrap the wider end around the top of each finger puppet where the yarn attachment for the ear muffs is. Then hot glue it. Add a small pom pom to the top of each hat with your glue gun.

Cut out some felt scarves for around the neck of each of the finger puppet snow family members, and hot glue them to the neck of each one.

Next, paint a face of your choice onto each snowman finger puppet and allow to dry.

You've just successfully completed your snowman finger puppet family! You can now engage the kids in imaginative play with their newly created finger puppet family. Maybe you could bring it up a notch and construct a puppet stage for the new finger puppets to entertain the family from?
