Winter Fantasy Baseball Information Sources

There's snow on the ground, the temperature is a crisp 28* Fahrenheit, and you have football on your television. Bottom line is, many people are already beginning to think about the upcoming fantasy baseball season. Fantasy Baseball takes up a significant portion of the year, from April all the way to October, so owners start preparing for the upcoming season as soon as they can get the resources they need. Here are a couple of options for you, as a reliable fantasy baseball owner, to take a look into as you begin your 2008 Fantasy Baseball preparations.

The Magazines

At this point in December, there aren't that many (if any at all) Fantasy Baseball magazines out on the market, but magazines can be a great help if purchased early. Some companies will begin releasing their fantasy baseball packed magazines early on in February, so if you can, try to make an occasional run to the bookstore newsstand and see if any have been released.

Remember, the more of these you buy, the better. In order to have a successful fantasy baseball draft, you have to understand every player and the public's perception of how that player will perform. You will be able to gain a good baseline understanding through use of magazines early on, on how the starting perception of these players will be. As you get closer to the season, you can see which players are undervalued and overvalued, and you'll get a good feel for this once you soak in some of the magazines.

The Online Sources

There are a plethora of online sources available for use as a fantasy baseball owner. Some of these have already begun preparations for the 2008 fantasy baseball season. Among the websites to take a look at include: The Sporting News' Fantasy Source Baseball, Rotoworld.com, and ESPN's Fantasy Baseball information section. Not all online sources will provide rankings at this point in time, but the fastest way to get the most updated fantasy baseball information is to utilize one or two of these online sources to the best of your ability.

The Books

Finally, you have the books, and there are a couple of sources out there that you can resource. There are several "how-to" books on fantasy baseball, but I would not invest in any of these personally. Instead, look for a good baseball statistics book either from last season, or look to invest in a projections book such as The Baseball Prospectus, which is released yearly.

Best of luck in your winter fantasy baseball preparations, and remember, it is never too early to begin preparing for next season!
