Winter in Florida

They Come from the Northland

Charles Melius
This time of year we always fear
The onslaught quick of snowbirds
From far away they come to stay
At motels like some sheep herds.

They bring their gifts of Winter fun
To share with others in the sun
And line the aisles at all the stores
Just try to go, there's room no more.

So friends from up in Snowman's land
We love to have you come and spend
Good times with us so near the Gulf
So please don't make us hate ourself.

Don't tell us how great thing are done
Up where you live and must come from
We have much slower ways of life
Away from all the Northern strife.

Enjoy the sun and sands so white
The air so warm and ever bright
Remeber but when you take flight
All this is free should you requite.
