Snowman Portraits
Making snowmen is a traditional inexpensive winter activity for families, but snowman portraits are much more fun. For this activity everyone in the family can choose to create themselves or you can all pick someone else. Just make sure everyone in the family is represented by a snowman.
When making a snowman portrait it is fun to make the snowman the same height as the person it is made from. Adding accessories that belong to the person it resembles is also a good idea. Snowman portraits are a fun and inexpensive activities that families will enjoy in the winter.
Igloo Picnic
Another fun winter activity is an igloo picnic. First your family must make an igloo. To make an igloo you must start by forming a circle and creating a large ball of snow. Place the snowball on the ground and roll towards the center of the circle. Make sure to pack all of the snow the ball is picking up as it rolls into the ball to make it very big. Use this as the base of your igloo and work with snow from inside the circle to make the igloo bigger. You can make a fort instead if you like.
When the igloo is completed, heat up some grilled cheese sandwiches, soup, and hot chocolate. Put the hot liquids into thermoses. Pack a blanket, utensils, napkins, and whatever else you like in a bag and have a lovely winter picnic in your igloo.
Snow Messages
Snow messages are inexpensive and your family will love this fun activity. Start by mixing food coloring or watercolor paints into a cup or two of water. Then fill squirt bottles and spray bottles with the mixture. Old shampoo and dishwashing liquids are good bottles to use for squirting. Then go outside for this fun activity with your family. Together make a large winter message in the snow.
Snowy Scavenger Hunt
Another fun winter activity that is also inexpensive is a scavenger hunt. For this activity everyone has to choose a waterproof object. If the object is not water proof you can put it in a waterproof container and hide it like that so it doesn't get wet. Everyone should take turns hiding an object in the snow and writing down a clue about how to find it. When all the objects are hidden, exchange clues to find the objects.
Try these fun winter activities with your family; they are inexpensive and guaranteed to be a good time.
