Winter Hair Repair

Keep Your Hair Soft and Silky During the Cold Winter Months

Okay, so, with Christmas fast approaching, we're in for a good few months of cold, dry winter weather, and many people tend to neglect their hair - not something you want to do!

Keeping your hair soft and shiny isn't half as hard as people may think, and with this article, I aim to give you all a few good tips to get you on your way!

1. Hair Masks
There are a few good moisturizing hair masks on the market, but the best won't come cheap. However, there are quite a few home remedies, depending on your hair color etc.

I would recommend vinegar for brunettes, just a spoonful after shampooing your hair should do it - any more, and it'll leave a scent on your hair for possibly weeks. However, if you don't want to risk it, you can try Olive Oil, just wet your hair, then drizzle a small amount on, and leave it for about three minutes, rinsing it out thoroughly.

2. Diet
It's no secret that the things we eat have a serious effect on our hair and nails - things like egg, banana and avocado are proven to stop hair losing it's natural sheen, and keep it from getting frizzy or dry.

As always, fruit and vegetables have great effects on not only the body, but the hair, too - another reason not to overeat in the festive season!

3. Always Use Protection!
No, not that kind of protection - protection for your hair!

If you style your hair very often with heated products (e.g - straighteners, curling irons and heated rollers, among other things), then you need to make sure it's protected - this isn't just specific to winter, but you'll need to be especially careful now.

You can buy heat protection sprays from most major hair companies, but I'd recommend Avon's Style It! spray, a little goes a long way, and you can genuinely see results.

4. Lotions and Potions
You know the drill - shine sprays, gloss serums, frizzease - you can hardly go to any pharmacy or cosmetics booth without walking past them - and the answer is yes, some of them really do work - try a walnut size amount of Schwarzkopf Gliss Serum, just run it from the roots to the ends of your hair, working it through with extra care on the tips.

Okay, so, stick to these tips, and you should have wonderfully glossy hair throughout the winter months - just make sure to tell your friends where you got all the tips from!

Best stuff I ever used was Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair treatment: all natural, you put it in at the start of your shower and then rinse it out before you wash your hair. I used it once a week and my hair never looked better...gets rid of all the frizz associated with winter weather.
