The Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony from Vancouver is scheduled for tonight, February 12th. Television coverage begins on NBC at 7:30 p.m. ET with the Opening Ceremonies starting at 9:00 p.m. ET. The Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony will be officially opened by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper with the President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge.

The Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony opening ceremonies on NBC will be hosted in prime time by Bob Costas. We will watch as the Olympic ceremonies unfold in grandeur that will include the Athlete's Parade of Nations and the lighting of the Olympic Caldron. Choreography for the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony has been done by the artistic director of the Alberta Ballet, Jean Grand-Maitre. The outfits worn by the United States Olympic team was designed by well-known Ralph Lauren.

The Opening Ceremony for 2010 Olympic Games will take place at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is known that the planning committee allocated $40 million just for these Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremonies, some of which came from the government of Canada. A lot of spectacle can be built and enjoyed for $40 million and it promises to be amazing for the world to welcome the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010.

The Vancouver BC Place stadium where the Opening Ceremony for 2010 Olympic Games take place tonight, is Canada's first domed arena and is the largest air-supported stadium in the world. It is located on the north side of False Creek in Vancouver, British Columbia at 777 Pacific Blvd, Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 4Y8. BC Place Stadium has a 55,000 person capacity and has been sold out for a long time prior to the opening of the games, expect also that hundreds of millions of viewers will be watching on TV all over the world.

Opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games began in ancient Greece where the games have their founding. In the early games victory celebrations were included that involved feasting, singing and poetry. As the modern Olympics have gown over time these ceremonies have grown more extravagant as the initiation of the games are celebrated around the world. In our ceremonies now we raise the host country's flag and perform the national anthem. Then the culture of the host country is celebrated in song and dance.

The games will then be declared officially open and the Olympic flag is raised, the athletes all accept that they will participate in the games and the Olympic Torch is brought in and the Olympic cauldron is lit.
