The Doberman Pinscher dog is a very strong and active dog breed, but they can still shiver and get cold just like any other dog. Any animal will suffer if left outside for long periods of time when the temperature drops. The Doberman Pinscher dog is a strong breed mentally and physically, but even a strong nature will not protect your loyal pet from the cold. Meet the needs of your pet Doberman this winter and keep your pet warm and happy.
The Doberman Pinscher dog is often a misunderstood breed. Because of this many people will refuse to get to know how sweet their Doberman can be, and will sentence them to living alone outside in the elements. Any dog, Doberman Pinscher or not, should have some kind of shelter or cover that will allow them to get away from the blistering wind and the cold wet snow. No pet should ever be left outside with no way to escape the elements; this is just plain cruelty. A cold pet, dog or cat, will shiver when they are cold, just like a person. Sometimes in worse cases of exposure to cold a pet will become lethargic and refuse to move even to get out of the cold or even death.
For a dog that does not stay outside permanently, a dog sweater is the easiest and most economical way to make sure that your Doberman stays warm this winter. Most dog sweaters vary in size from XS to XXL. Avoid any type of dog sweater or jacket labeled "one size" for your Doberman Pinscher, most likely they will not be large enough for an adult Doberman.
In places where there is snowfall during winter, dog boots are another necessary accessory for your dog. Stores like Pets Mart will let you bring in your dog to try things on before making a purchase. It is best to buy a dog sweater for your Doberman Pinscher dog that is a little too big because it will shrink just a little in the wash depending upon the material it is made from.
