HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN
The first thing you should do to care for your skin in winter is to limit exposure. If you don't have to be out for long periods of time, don't. If you do have to be outside limit the exposure of skin to the elements. Layer your body with a moisturizing cream to prevent dry irritated skin. Add layers of clothes for warmth. Wear hat, gloves and muffler. The less you are exposed the healthier your skin will be.
Walking outdoors for exercise is good but walking indoors during the winter is a better idea. Don't buy a treadmill and use it for a clothes rack. Place your treadmill were you will get the most use out of it. Winter Skin Care is about protecting the skin, keeping it healthy.
Exercise is good for skin so don't neglect it in the winter. Jog around the house or if you don't have space jog in place in front of the television. Skin needs to be stretched to keep it elastic. Add movement to the walking or jogging. The more you can do the less you run the risk of dry skin which will leave to problems.
Winter Skin Care is important to long-term health. Your skin is the first line of immunity. The healthier your skin the better it is able to protect you from bacteria, disease and viruses. Your skin cells actually detect and fight dangerous antigens by releasing proteins (antibodies). The best moisturizers will enhance the bacteria fighting abilities of the skin.
Winter Skin Care Requires Moisture
A moisturizing cream is critical for inside and outside activities. The cream holds in the vital moisture. An oil-based cream is roughly 80% oil and 20% water and is far and away better for Winter Skin Care than a lotion or cream containing chemicals. Read the labels and choose wisely. Your skin is your armor plating.
Dry Skin breaks down easily and irritating rashes will form. Lesions or sores are very common when skin is too dry over a long period of time. Dermatitis, Eczema and other skin diseases will, in time, require medical attention. The use of moisturizers can save you in pain and money.
Winter Skin Care and A Humidifier
Indoors tend to be very dry in the winter months. Skin is subject to increased drying because of the lack of moisture in the air. Humidifiers are relative cheap and can be purchased at most discount stores. Many people purchase just one and find it helpful. For most homes, however, one isn't enough. The larger the home the need for more than just one. Consider that the average humidifier is good for roughly 200-sq. ft. and a home with 1800 sq. ft. should have three. The moisture is extremely important and can reduce the amount of colds and sinus infections.
One last note about caring for skin. Always remove wet clothing at the first opportunity. Even though the clothing has moisture it can be abrasive to skin.
