The winter season can be brutal on your skin. It is very important to take good care of your skin. The tips in this article will help you find great ways of caring for your skin and protecting it during the winter months. Keeping your skin looking great is important to looking great overall.

Relax- Find a good way to relax. Some good options to consider for relaxation in the winter are meditation, yoga, a craft you enjoy, etc. Stress can cause skin inflammation, and contribute to getting wrinkles. Take a breather, its one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Sleep- Get enough sleep every night. Use high thread count bed linens, as they are smoother and easier on your skin. Don't bury your face in the pillow, the rubbing can cause a break down in collagen and cause wrinkles. Sleep easy on your back.

Hydration- Keep your skin hydrated during the winter by putting lotion on immediately after your bathe. Look for creams and lotions that contain hyaluronic acid, it will draw a large amount of moisture to your skin in the dry winter months.

Emollients- glycerin and dimethicone are great emollients to use in the winter. They are great for attracting water to your skin and they help create smooth skin by filling in small lines.

Mineral oil- This is a great emollient. It doesn't clog the pores and it is also one of the least irritating oils used for skincare. The winter months can be very irritating to the skin, especially when you have sensitive skin. This is a great alternative to harsher products.

Shea Butter - This is a great option because it protects your skin from getting irritated, which is easy during the winter, and also speeds up the skins natural repair process. Winter is a great time to heal and regenerate your skin.

Gluclosamine- Using skin care products with n-acetyl glucosamine helps to reduce melanin in your skin cells, and fades age spots and evens out your complexion. After a long summer in the sun, winter is a great time to regenerate your skin and this is a great way to do so.

Omega-3- When eating a diet balanced with omega-3 you will help keep your skin supple. These great amino acids will also protect your skin form sun damage. Eat lots of fish during the entire year to keep a good balance of omega-3 in your diet.

Coffee- When applied topically coffee, mainly because of the caffeine in it, reduces redness and under eye puffiness. Coffee is also packed with anti-oxidants that are great for your skin.

This would be really helpful were I not already ugly. Thank you. I didn't know it was wrong to bury my face in the pillow.
