Winter Skin Care Tips for Dry Skin

Inexpensive Ways to Achieve Healthy,Youthful Looking Skin

Because I have very dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles crop up more frequently, especially during the winter months. There are a million high-priced products on the market promising to heal and rejuvenate dry skin. Finding the perfect product that works for you can be an expensive process. By the time you've found the perfect product, you've wasted money, time, and energy.

If you are searching for an inexpensive alternative that works, tryout the products below:

Petroleum Jelly/Vaseline
My favorite petroleum jelly is the CVS store brand with chamomile and lavender. The cost is $2.99 for a 13 oz jar. The product has a soothing, calming scent, and works as a great night time moisturizer. You'll have super hydrated skin when you wake up. At night, I always put on an extra amount around my eyelids/under eye area, for a bright eyed, fresh, wrinkle-free look in the morning. Even if I've only had two hours of sleep, doing this makes me look well rested.

Shea Butter
Another wonderful product is L'Occitane Shea Butter (www.loccitane.com). It is an excellent way to pamper your skin and keep it healthy, and youthful. Shea nut butter is a natural fat extracted from fruit of the shea tree. L'Occitane Shea Butter, which retails at $39.00 for a 4.9 oz tin is well worth the cost. L'Occitane Shea Butter is more expensive than the other alternatives, but a little goes a long way. You only need a small dollop to moisturize your face. You'll definitely get your money's worth.

In addition, QVC home shopping network offers great gift sets that allow you to sample other L'Occitane skincare products at a value price, which is typically less than the retail price (Check them out at www.QVC.com).

According to the American Shea Butter Institute, www.sheainstitute.com, Shea butter is an excellent moisturizer that has several amazing and wonderful benefits:
• Contains healing properties
• Has the one vitamin that is essential for healthy skin
• Contains a minor sunscreen
• Transforms skin in as little as 4-6 weeks, leaving skin smoother, softer, and better looking.

After using L'Occitane's Shea Butter for two days, I immediately noticed the difference in my skin. The firmness and elasticity of my skin increased, and I also had a healthy looking glow. Shea Butter works well as a day and night time moisturizer. You can also use it along with your regular moisturizer, especially during the winter months.

Keri Shea Butter Lotion
Another option is Keri Shea Butter Lotion. A 15 oz. bottle of Keri Shea Butter Body Lotion usually retails for $6.99 or more, depending on the store. This is a great moisture rich product. Even though it is a body lotion, it works well as a face cream. This lotion tightens and firms the skin. After a few days, you'll notice the difference.

During the bitter cold winter months, I like to use petroleum jelly and Keri Shea Butter Body lotion together for an intense overnight moisturizer for my face.

Any of these products will help you fight back against winter's blustery winds and frigid temperatures.

What Can You Use As a Skin Moisturizer?

The safest moisturizer that I recommend is pure MeritVCO virgin coocnut oil from excelcombine. The ideal lotion is one that not only softens the skin, but protects it against damage, promotes healing and gives it a more youthful, healthy appearance. Pure virgin coconut oil is the best natural ingredient for skin lotion available. It prevents destructive free radical formation and provides protection against them. It can help to keep the skin from developing liver spots, and other blemishes caused by aging and over exposure to sunlight. It helps to keep connective tissues strong and supple so that the skin doesn't sag and wrinkle. In some cases it can even restore damaged or dise
