It's a known fact that during the winter season, a person's mood can be dull. Snow is falling, roads are icy and there isn't any sunshine to brighten your day. As a woman, it can affect the mood for the entire day. Every now and then, I need an attitude pick-me-up. I need something that can make me feel better inside and out without spending too much money. Going to an actual spa could be expensive and you want to save money in all areas, especially with something for yourself. Once or twice a month, have a spa-night at your home with these different items that can uplift your mood, help you feel relaxed, and allow you exhale from a long winter day.
1) You come home from a long day. You had an unruly customer or co-worker, rode in horrible traffic, and is trying to leave the gloom at the door. Take a soothing shower with Dove Deep moisturizing body wash. One thing that you should do, male or female, is to keep your skin moisturized during the winter time. Your skin can get very dry and brittle and Dove is a great product that keeps your skin soft and you stay moisturized all through the day and night. This body wash absorbs into your skin completely and you feel the softness immediately.
2) Following the shower, use Dove Cream Oil body lotion all over your body. If you have dry skin regularly, this works well for you during any season. I love this lotion because your skin feels smooth and the lotion itself does not dry up quickly. You only need to use a little because it works deep into your pores. Depending on where you go, you can get the body wash, lotion and bar of Dove soap all together for about $10, $11. That way, you can have smooth coverage all the way around. Pick out some comfortable around-the-house-type of clothes for the remainder of the evening. A pair of favorite sweats, flannels, or some T-shirt and shorts will work just fine.
3) Your body is all clean and smooth, now it's time for your face. You might wear make-up or live in an area where the wind chill stings your face on your daily life. Facial masks are a great way to deeply cleanse your face. They aren't to be used, however, every day. Facial masks are something that you can do once or twice a month. When you want to use something daily, I would recommend a facial scrub. (I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It's great for all skin types, whether you have oily skin, dry skin, or a mixture of both.) For your spa night at home, the facial mask I use Freeman Peel-off facial mask. This particular facial mask exfoliates, removes dirt and any make-up you may have worn that day. It has that great cucumber smell too which is important because you don't want to wear something for the recommended ten minutes and smelling something awful. Once you've rinse away the mask, you will notice that your skin is smooth and not dry. It also has natural ingredients within the mask that leave your skin moisturized so you won't need to add any other beauty lotion on your face.
4) When you applied the Dove Cream Oil body lotion, you didn't forget to rub it on your feet, did you? Your feet are soft and delicate and you love it. Something to add to your comfort is a pair of Aloe Vera socks. I found the socks at Wal-Mart super center and couldn't believe the softness of them. For $3.00, you can wear socks that soothe your feet while you're walking around the house. The best part I found is that even after four washes, they still feel soft and silky.
5) I am going to combine step 5 and 6 because they both are pretty simple. I love candles. Candles provide a sense of tranquility with their look and smell. Light one of your favorite candles that you have in your home. You could even light it first before you started your evening. That way the smell would have already settled all throughout the rooms. I would suggest a lavender or vanilla smelling candle. Studies have shown that those particular smells trigger a calm and peace aura. Then find your favorite movie. It could be a great comedy, a hopeless romance, or a little both. You would need a movie that would provoke emotion and action; whether it's laughing or crying, this will help your mind and body relax. Some great movie choices would Something's Gotta Give, Life, Shrek, Why Did I Get Married?, or for the females who like to relax with action films Transformers, Terminator Salvation, or Ironman.
This winter spa night can be done anytime during this season when you're feeling gloomy, tired, or just bored. It will perk up your mood with total relaxation of all your senses. You can find all of these items, like I did, at Wal-Mart. Every now and then, you need to relax without the craziness of going out and dressing up or spending a lot of money. A winter spa night at home just might be the best solution.
