Winter Vacation Destinations: Sugarbush, Vermont

The Perfect Place for a Winter Getaway

John Galt
Many of those who swear by winter vacations also swear by the need to travel to the west to find the best snowboarding or skiing. However, this does not always have to be the case, as some of the best winter vacations can easily be found in the northeast. However, while there are many possible destinations, perhaps some of the best spots can be found in Vermont. Indeed, those who know skiing and snowboarding know that Vermont can be a great spot to spend a few weeks during winter. Of all the various locations that one could travel to in Vermont, definitely one of the best is Sugarbush.

When everything is averaged together, Sugarbush contains over six mountains that represent over 4,000 acres together. Simply looking at these numbers, it should be easy to see that Sugarbush has an almost unlimited number of possible trails and slopes for vacationers to enjoy. In fact, those who love snow sports will be busy for weeks trying to hit all the different trails and enjoying all that Sugarbush has to offer. However, if one does not feel like riding trails or enjoying skiing, there are also plenty of other activities that Sugarbush has to offer.

For starters, the scenery and surrounding environment, not to mention the six mountains, are incredibly beautiful, and simply taking one of the many tours that are offered by the lodges in the area is a great way to spend a day. However, one can also go cross-country skiing or enjoy some ice skating at one of the lodges. Also, there are a lot of locations to go snowmobiling, and there are a variety of excellent places to eat and dine while at the lodges. One has not experienced Sugarbush until they have had a dinner at a genuine Vermont restaurant, the food is like nothing else, and eating in one of the cottage like restaurant settings is an experience beyond compare, it is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the vacation if one happens to enjoy dining out. However, the more upscale lodging offers full kitchens if one would prefer to prepare their own food instead of eating out.

Speaking of the lodges, rarely will one find a nicer place to stay then a Sugarbush lodge. From the luxurious accommodations, to the fireside rests, there is absolutely nothing to dislike about staying in Sugarbush. Of course, one could always opt to trade up to one of the cottages on location, which come such luxurious as a large screen television, and other features that one would not expect from a location with such a modest price as Sugarbush, Vermont.

Truly, Sugarbush is one of the nicest locations to visit in all of Vermont. Time passes very quickly, and even a week long vacation feels like much less once on begins to experience the beauty and simplicity that is Sugarbush Vermont. For those who are looking to get away from the rush and busyness of everyday life, Sugarbush is perhaps one of the nicest getaways that money can buy. No, it may not be Colorado, but there is plenty to do and enjoy in Vermont, and none will be disappointed by their vacation experience while there.
