Winter Vacations: Deer Valley, Utah

An Interesting and Fun Winter Getaway

John Galt
Even though summer may seem to be the obvious time to get away from the world for a while and take a break, winter, too, can provide it's own kind of enjoyment. Of course, all too often many simply take the easy way out and opt for a cruise or some type of tropical stay while trying to vacation during winter.

However, one does not have to leave the country in order to have a good winter vacation. In fact, perhaps one of the best places to spend a winter vacation can be found right in Utah. That place is known as Deer Valley, and it may be one of the single best places that one can spend a vacation in winter, provided the lack of a beach isn't too much of a bother.

What, you may ask, makes Deer Valley so special? Perhaps the first answer to this question lies in where the valley is actually located. Located right in Park City, Deer Valley provides access to several mountains and a variety of lodges, depending on the preference of the individual. However, the views and scenery that can be found in Deer Valley are absolutely beautiful.

There is nothing to see in Deer Valley that cannot be called picturesque or even amazing. From the view of the pristine mountains surrounding Deer Valley, to the beauty of the woods under the fresh falling snow, almost everything is perfect when it comes to Deer Valley's location,

Of course, one does not go on vacation simply to stare at scenery though, and, thankfully, Deer Valley offers a lot that can be done, and many activities that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. There are two mountains available for skiers, one for more advanced skiers and snowboarders, and one for beginners.

Whichever you choose to ride, it is guaranteed that you will have a good time. The trails at Deer Valley are some of the most well reviewed and enjoyed in the country, and many return here year after year in order to go skiing or experience the wonder that is simply Deer Valley. For those who love skiing or snowboarding, Deer Valley may well be the perfect winter getaway.

Even though skiing and snowboarding may be some of the most popular activities to take part in at Deer Valley, there is also plenty to do for those that are not ski or snowboarding fans. For example, Deer Valley offers over forty acres of land that are open to exploration by snowmobile. There are some truly beautiful trails to explore, and a variety of different snowmobiles that one can rent.

If you wish to try something different, this is highly recommended. Whether one has ridden snowmobiles before or not, there is little to compare to this experience. Training is done on site for those who are unsure of the proper riding methods, and it is almost guaranteed that one will have a good time exploring the many acres of open land.

If taking out a snowmobile still isn't your thing, rest assured, there are both guided and solo tours across the wide range of land that Deer Valley sits on. One can do some cross country skiing or take snowshoes, but there is wildlife, beautiful scenery, and an entire winter wonderland that is just waiting to be discovered. Also, for something really different, try taking a hot air balloon.

The lodges and rooms at Deer Valley are exquisite. Whether one opts to stay in a two person suit, or a family room, every lodge and every single room is picture perfect. The family rooms are plenty big enough, and every room has the basic features, such as a cable television, shower, and other necessary amenities.

Whatever lodge and whatever room one opts to stay in, there is absolutely no chance that you will be disappointed with your stay at Deer Valley. The lodges all have excellent food and there is ice skating and other fun activities that can be done right at the lodge for those who may not feel like going out for the day.

No matter what one would like to get out of their vacation, it is likely that it can be found at Deer Valley. From the beautiful scenery, to the many possible room options, to the other fun and exciting activities, Deer Valley really has something for everyone. Not to worry, the valley also encourages children and has a variety of activities and a day care service for parents who may want to go skiing or exploring. Factor all of this in with reasonable prices and generally great availability, and perhaps we have found the perfect winter vacation, or at least a vacation which is willing to inspire many more return trips in the future.

Deer Valley is one of 4 US ski resorts that DOES NOT allow snowboarding. only skiing is allowed. Just a word of warning to anyone reading this article and are confused by the statements made about snowboarding at Deer Valley.
