Brace Yourself Amherst Virginia, Winter Weather Warning Issued and on the Way

Jennifer Moore
Central Virginia including Amherst Virginia is bracing for the first winter storm of the season. The national weather service has issued a winter weather warning for much of the viewing area. The winter weather warning for Amherst Virginia starts after midnight tonight and into Friday morning.

Forecasters say there is potential for up to six inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain. The weather in Amherst Virginia and other areas have been very cold lately and this will make anything that comes from the sky stick. This means driving conditions dangerous.

Of course, the children will enjoy the snow, because it will give them a day off from school and some sleigh riding. As of right now Amherst County Schools has not made a decision to close schools yet. They will wait until morning to see what the weather looks like and to see what forecasters are saying. If you need to find out if Amherst County Virginia schools are closed dial 434-946-9386 and press 7.

People seem to be split about being ready for this winter weather storm about to hit Amherst Virginia. Some are saying bring it on while others are not ready. I say bring it on, it makes it feel more like Christmas. Many are thinking winter is not here until the 21st what gives. Like the old saying goes, you can't predict Mother Nature. You know much like how men cannot predict what women want and need or how they think.

There have been times when the weather forecasters missed storms and we did not get any snow. However, there were a few times they were only calling for a few inches and we got two to three feet.

All jokes aside, take precautions when driving in these winter weather conditions, it can and will be very dangerous. Watch channel 13 news or visit WSET for the latest forecast and up to date information on this winter weather warning for Amherst Virginia and Central Virginia.
