Winter Wedding Crafts: Sheet Music Snowflake Place Card Holders

Landra Lynn Jacobs
Unique place card holders are a great way to add style to your winter wedding reception tables. These fun and whimsical sheet music snowflake place card holders are fairly inexpensive to create but look great when finished!

For this project, you will need (per place card holder):

- Three inch sized unfinished wooden photo frame (available at craft supply stores and dollar stores)
- Medium or fine grit sandpaper
- Tack cloth or other style of soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Oxford Blue
- Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray
- Sheet music paper
- Pencil
- One inch snowflake shaped stencil
- White colored cardstock
- Printer
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth

For best cleanup results, cover your work area with sheets of old newspaper and/or a large drop cloth prior to starting your place card holder project. Remove the glass and backing from a three inch sized unfinished wooden photo frame. Discard the glass and keep the backing in a safe place for the end of the project.

Sand the outside of the unfinished wooden photo frame with either medium or fine grit sandpaper. Next, smooth the surface of the wood with a tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth to remove any grit from the frame. Prime the wooden frame with a completely even coat of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Once the primed frame has set for a few hours, paint the frame with three to four coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Oxford Blue. Allow the project to dry overnight.

Place the sheet music paper upside down on the self healing mat. In pencil, trace the one inch sized snowflake design from a stencil onto the back of the sheet music. Carefully cut out the snowflake design with a craft knife. Spray both sides of the snowflake shape with Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray to stiffen. Dry completely.

Heat up the hot glue gun. Adhere the sheet music snowflake to the blue painted frame. Print the guest's name onto white colored cardstock. Trim the cardstock with a craft knife so that it fits within the frame. Insert the place card into the frame and secure the backing in place. Set the place card holder on your reception table, as desired.
