Winter Wedding Favor Ideas

While winter isn't the most popular season for weddings, many couples choose to hold their ceremonies during this time, despite cooler (or even downright chilly) temperatures. Winter weddings can incorporate many different themes, from elegant winter wonderland to ceremonies full of yuletide flavor and everything in between. Wedding favors are items given to guests that they can take home as a memento of what a great time they had at the ceremony. Some favors are meant to be eaten at the reception or used at some point in the ceremony, such as the bubbles guests may blow as the couple leaves the venue. When choosing wedding favors, it is important that your choices reflect the overall theme or color scheme of the entire wedding and reception. Here are a few winter wedding favor ideas that will hopefully give you some inspiration when planning your ceremony.

Many winter weddings use a silver, white, and blue color scheme to reflect colors typically associated with the cold, chilly season. The wedding venue and reception area may be decorated with things such as silver or crystal snowflakes and other items, simple tree branch centerpieces strung with soft lights, and blue flowers. If this is your color scheme, look for wedding favors that incorporate silver, blue, and crystal. Wedding favor stores such as Beau Coup offer many customizable items that would be suitable for a winter wonderland wedding, such as silver wine stoppers, snowflake-adorned mint tins, snowflake place card holders, and baked goods in blue and white. Guests will enjoy receiving blue votive or pillar candles, which can be easily assembled with supplies from a craft store. Tie a silver ribbon around the candle for added flair. Miniature snow globes, crystal or silver angel ornaments and bookmarks would all fit in perfectly with a winter wedding theme. If you want to make your own wedding favors, try making small bottles of hot chocolate mix for guests. With glass bottles, decorative ribbon and tag, and a cocoa recipe, send your guests home with something tasty to help them warm up. Other edible favors you can make are gingerbread cookies or sugar cookies in the shape of snowflakes, snowmen, or mittens. Wrap these in clear cellophane and tie with a simple silver ribbon. Bake It Pretty is a great source for winter themed cookie cutters and other decorations for edible treats.
