Winter Wedding Venues in the Tri-Cities (Bay City, Saginaw, Midland) of Michigan

Dee Dee Smith
June still remains the most popular month for weddings. Nonetheless, many find winter to be their most romantic and enchanting wedding season. This is especially true for those who enjoy the snow. In the winter the most popular wedding months are December and February (especially Valentine's Day weekend).

If looking to wed somewhere around the Tri-Cities (Bay City, Saginaw, Midland) there are many great winter wedding venues.

Bavarian Inn Lodge and the Bavarian Inn Restaurant in Frankenmuth

Known as Little Bavaria, the Frankenmuth community is a perfect spot for a winter wedding. It is home to the infamous Bronner's (the worlds largest Christmas store), thus, throughout the winter Frankenmuth is a Christmas Wonderland. Although there are many popular wedding locales in Frankenmuth, the Bavarian Inn is a favorite. The inn offers two different wedding venues. First is the lodge which is best suited for a larger and more formal celebration. For smaller, more intimate ceremonies one might consider the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. With eight dining rooms, this facility can accommodate a wedding of a dozen to over 300 people. Whether at the lodge or restaurant, the bride/groom can choose from a wide array of tasty German dishes including bratwurst (pork sausage), ham/cabbage dumplings, potato cheese puffs and the Bavarian Inn's famous chicken. Additionally, for overnight guests the hotel offers themed guest rooms, an indoor water park and family fun center.

For information on planning a wedding at the Bavarian Inn Lodge, contact Tina at 1-888-775-6343. Although the cost for a wedding at the lodge can vary based upon different factors, the average cost for a lodge wedding runs around $6,000 (for 200-250 guests).

If planning a wedding in the Bavarian Inn Restaurant contact Tabitha at 1-888-228-2742. For an idea of cost, the traditional wedding buffet runs around $19.99/person (plus tax and tips).

Apple Mountain in Saginaw

During the summer many weddings are hosted at Apple Mountain; but, it is also a great place to hold a winter wedding. The beautiful ski slopes and other scenery make for a very romantic environment. Additionally, being a resort, it has the feel of a destination wedding. Apple Mountain is perfect for the bride/groom who wants a more private wedding ceremony, but a large reception. In this case the wedding would be held in a secluded meeting room and the reception in their grand ballroom. Apple Mountain also offers a full catering and banquet service (the cost being anywhere from $25-$65/person). Contact Abbe Adair at (989) 781-6789 for more details.

The Temple Theater in Saginaw

The historic Temple Theater in Saginaw's downtown area offers the perfect backdrop for a fairy tale winter wedding. Various rooms in the facility are available for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. There is a ballroom for larger, more traditional events, and a lounge style room for less formal/intimate affairs. Over the years the Temple Theater has been beautifully restored to it's original grandeur with a winding staircase, chandeliers and gold accents. Lastly, the bride and groom become a celebrity for the day by having their names displayed on the outside marqee of the theater. For information about booking a wedding at the Temple Theater, contact the Horizons Center at (989) 799-4122.

The Montague Inn in Saginaw

This intimate inn is a perfect locale for a small and elegant winter ceremony (the inn can accommodate up to 100 people). Depending upon the wedding size one can choose to have their ceremony held in the library, dining area, lobby or the Riley (meeting) room. Unique to this facility, one can hold both the wedding ceremony and reception in the inn. Additionally, many rent the entire inn for the weekend allowing for a grand celebration. The Montague Inn also offers fine dining and full catering services. Their rates begin at $200 for a 15 person ceremony, and go up from there depending upon number of guests, menu selections, etc. For more information about a wedding at the Montague Inn, contact Chinu Mridha at (989) 752-3939.

Other special wedding venues in the Tri-Cities include the Horizons Center (featured on the reality show Wedding Day) , Dow Event Center, the H Hotel in Midland and the Frankenmuth Wedding Chapel.
