Winter Weddings - The Benefits of Having One

Jody Morse
If you are interested in getting married, it is likely that you have probably thought about having your wedding in the spring, summer or even the autumn. It is likely that you have not thought about having a winter wedding. Although you may not even realize it, there are many benefits that can come along with having a winter wedding. Here, we will take a closer look at some of these benefits, in order to help you determine whether or not having a wedding in the winter may be the right choice for you.

Winter Wedding Décor and Themes Can Be Beautiful

One of the best things about having a winter wedding is that you can really have some beautiful winter wedding décor and themes. This is especially good for people who enjoy darker colors, which are often associated with the winter. When you have a wedding in the spring or summer, you are often expected to have bright, cheerful colors. With a winter wedding, it is safe to go with darker shades of blues, purple and greens.. The overall wedding theme and style that can be created in the winter can be very beautiful - just think Winter Wonderland type themes. For example, you might want to consider having a snowflake cake or candy cane center pieces. All that you need to do is give a lot of thought and consideration to the overall theme and décor of your winter wedding.

Winter Weddings Are Not Too Common

Since most people get married during the other seasons, it is likely that you will not need to worry too much about planning your wedding date around the wedding dates of your friends. If you want a wedding date which is really unique, then you may want to consider a winter wedding. What's even better is the fact that your wedding is very likely to be memorable for both you and your guests, as many people do not get the opportunity to attend a winter wedding.

Winter Wedding Costs May Be a Lot Lower

Since winter is the wedding off season, it is likely that you will find some very good deals. This may include the cost of the wedding venue, the photographer, the caterer and various other services that are required for a wedding. Of course, in order to find the lowest prices on your winter wedding, you are probably going to need to search around and do a lot of price comparisons before finding the best rates. Keep in mind that the cost of a florist may be more expensive, as certain flowers are not as readily available during the winter months. Overall, however, it is definitely safe to say that winter weddings do have the potential to cost less than weddings during wedding season may cost.

Winter Wedding Favors Can Be Unique and Delightful

One of the things that many couples struggle with is choosing the right wedding favors. There are many unique winter wedding favors that your guests will be likely to find very delightful. Candy canes, hot cocoa, flavored teas, holiday cookies, scented candles and personalized holiday ornaments are just some of the many different wedding favors that you can give when you choose to have a winter wedding.

Winter Can Add a Lovely Touch of Snow

It is possible that winter can add a lovely touch of snow, which will enhance the overall beauty of your wedding. However, it is important to keep in mind that you should not depend on Mother Nature. You should also remember that too much snow can be a bad thing, as it may prevent guests from being able to attend your winter wedding. Overall, the idea of having snow on the ground for your winter wedding is quite wonderful. Even if it does not snow, there are so many other benefits that are associated with having a winter wedding that this in itself makes it well worth it.

I always wanted a winter wedding because I thought it would be supremely elegant. It turned out that I got married in July (due to my mother being a teacher and wanting to be off work), but I love your ideas and I will remember them for when my daughters are old enough to get married.

In Florida, lots of people have winter weddings. As a matter of fact, my best friend is getting married in the Keys in January. Down here, it is actually more expensive to get married in winter, but I can see how it would be a beautiful time of year for a wedding up north.

That mother nature thing is the fly in the ointment. Now if you could rely on a backdrop of snowflakes, more people would find winter weddings charming.

Great idea for an article! I can see how winter weddings would cost less. I was married during the month of August, which is when it is really expensive to travel.
