The park employees, under the supervision of Rick Taylor (the Winter Wonderland Supervisor) and Diane White (the Chief Designer), designed and set up a beautiful Winter Wonderland of light displays on 75 acres of Tilles Park that the entire family will enjoy.
Over one million lights make up Tilles Park's Winter Wonderland. In September, Park employees meticulously check each piece of the display for burned-out bulbs and damage. Repairs are done and the set-up plans are drawn. Employees from other St. Louis County parks are brought in to set up the displays and string lights in the trees. It takes about five weeks to set up the entire display.
As your family takes a leisurely ride through the one-mile Winter Wonderland in a horse-drawn carriage, the moving carousel, the gingerbread house, and the lake with the jumping fish will amaze them. If a carriage ride sounds too chilly, your family can enjoy the displays from the warmth of the family car.
Winter Wonderland is open daily (5:30pm - 9:30pm) to vehicle traffic and carriage rides from November 26, 2008 until January 4, 2009. The park is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Saturdays are reserved for carriage rides only.
Admission price varies, depending on vehicle type. The price for a family vehicle is $9.00, $10.00 for a limousine, a commercial transport van costs $30.00, and $75.00 for a tour bus. Fees for vehicles are paid in cash at the park.
There are small private carriages that seat 1 to 6 people, large private carriages that seat 1 to 10 people, and group carriages that seat 26 people. Reservations for carriage rides must be made in advance.
Group carriages are $10.00 per person. Prices for private carriage rides vary depending on the type of carriage and the number of people in your group.
Tickets are available through online through MetroTix.com or through a MetroTix Outlet, such as the Fox Theatre Box Office, Macy's, or Schnucks.
A family visit to Winter Wonderland will give your children warm memories that will stay a lifetime, so load the family in the car, grab some hot cocoa, and come start a new family tradition.
