Winterplace Ski Resort has the largest snow tubing park located within West Virginia with two carpet lifts to carry you back up the mountain while you sit relaxed in your tube. Tubing at Winterplace costs anywhere between $25-$33 separately, but you can purchase as an add-on if your skiing the slopes. Also, Winterplace has group rates available for both skiing and tubing so be sure to ask about those rates either in person or over the phone.
The ski resort has ski instructors to teach anyone wanting to learn the basics of skiing. You'll be fitted for proper ski equipment and learn how to start and stop your skis. You can even get private lessons for skiing and avoid the crowds that attend a regular ski lesson.
Restaurants at Winterplace Ski Resort consist of Mountain Momma's Food court where you can buy anything from pizza to burgers. The MountainHouse, Mickey's Mountain Café, The Snowdrift Lounge and Almost Heaven-The Decks at Winterplace all provide a wide array of foods, snacks and beverages.
Places to stay while visiting Winterplace Ski Resort:
I recommend staying at The Glade Spring Resort which is located about 10 minutes from Winterplace. The resort features a 10-lane bowling alley, hot tube, indoor pool, arcade, cinema, indoor tennis, basketball and exercise facility and a full service spa. The Glade Spring Resort provides shuttles to Winterplace. The resort has fine dining and casual options available with some of the best food around. The lodges are spacious and come with all the amenities and can accommodate big groups.
Also, there are numerous hotel options along I-77 that is close and convenient to Winterplace Ski Resort. Hotels are located in Princeton, West Virginia which is about a thirty minute drive to Winterplace and there's numerous hotel options in Beckley, West Virginia at the Harper Road exit 44 off of I-77. It's about 10-20 minutes away from Winterplace Ski Resort.
Winterplace Ski Resort is a great winter destination for anyone looking for a great time of skiing, snowboarding or tubing. They open early and stay open late throughout the ski season. The Resort makes a lot of snow while it's cold to help accommodate the base of the slopes.
