The sound of the howling wind;
Resonates through the barren branches;
Snow falls like crystal tears;
Feathers from angel's wings;
Pile high into tall mountains;
Water once thawed is hardened again;
The early signs of spring are gone;
Gray clouds cover the golden sun;
Temperatures plummet below freezing;
I can hear tiny shards of ice;
As they pelt the glass of my window;
Cold drafts sneak slyly in;
As I wrap myself in a blanket;
With a hot cup of tea in my hands;
And the cat asleep on my lap;
As winter takes its last strong gasp;
We are huddled as we wait out its fury;
For we know that it will be over soon;
And the sun will have his day.
Resonates through the barren branches;
Snow falls like crystal tears;
Feathers from angel's wings;
Pile high into tall mountains;
Water once thawed is hardened again;

Post a CommentAt the mercy of nature's fury and the determined strength to persevere. Bravo! I especially loved "Snow falls like crystal tears;" What an image, I could almost hear the crystalline sounds of shattering as they strike the earth.
Winter is not going to give up its grip of cold and snow easily. Very nice imagery. Let the sunshine in!
