I don't normally sweeten any tea that I make. Wisdom of the Ancients Yerba Mate Royale instant tea was already presweetened, so I didn't have a choice as to having it sweet or not. I don't think they sell an unsweetened version, though it would be nice if the did. It is sweetened with stevia and only stevia. That is why I went ahead and bought it. I would not have gotten it if it was sweetened with sugar or honey. I don't consume honey and I don't like added sugar in things. It being sweetened with stevia is perfect.
This tea taste like a mild brew of yerba mate. If you have ever had yerba mate you know it has a nice smooth taste. This Yerba Mate Royal instant tea also taste just lightly sweetened. There is no after taste, which is nice. The yerba mate they use is from Paraguay and most importantly the ingredients they use are not genetically modified.
I bought my container of Yerba Mate Royal instant tea at my local health food store for $9.49. That may sound like a lot but it does have 180 servings. That would equal a little over 5 cents a serving. Looking at it that way doesn't seen too bad.
I really like that this is instant. It is in a powder form and all you do is scoop ¼ or ½ of a teaspoon into a mug or glass of water and stir. The best thing is really you can add as little or as much as you want to suit your taste. It dissolves very well. It doesn't even need to steep. The water can be cold or hot. I like to have it in hot water on cold winter days and cool water during warmer months. I even add it to my smoothies on occasion.
Yerba Mate tea is suppose to aid in weight loss, boost energy and stimulate alertness. I don't really know if it aids in weight loss. I probably do not drink it enough or it could be the fact I don't weigh myself, but I do feel a little better energy wise and focus wise when I drink it. Sure beats jittery caffeine. I make sure I make a glass on the days I feel really run down.
If you want a tea you can just stir and go and want an alternative to black tea this Wisdom of the Ancients Yerba Mate Royale instant tea is a great option. I really like it. It taste good. It is super quick to make and you can't beat the health benefits of yerba mate.
