WITCH CAULDRON- Candle Magick: Anointing Your Candle for Spellwork and How to Make Anointing Oil

Anointing your candle: (Anointing Oil):

You will need

- 1 cup of fresh (spring) water (rain water)

- 1 cup of olive oil

- 2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon

- 1 tablespoon of clove oil

- 1 tablespoon powdered myrrh

- 1 cup of rose petals

- 1 cup of violets

- Pinch of wild fennel seeds

- 1 ceramic bowl

- 1 cotton ball

- 1 large glass bottle with tight lid

- 1 small piece of cheesecloth or muslin

How to mix your Anointing Oil:

Gather your rose petals and violets preferably at sunrise, place them in your ceramic bowl mixed with the fresh water (rainwater). Allow this to sit in a bright place (e.g. sunny windowsill) for three days. It is ready when you see flower oil rise to the top of the mixture. Take your cotton ball and gently run it over the flower oil that is sitting on top of the water and then squeeze this oil into you large glass bottle. You can now add your clove and olive oil and agitate clockwise gently to allow the recipe to mix (do not shake). You then add your fennell seeds, cinnamon and myrrh, seal the bottle tightly and store in a cool dark place. Allow the recipe to sit for 1 month and strain through a small piece of cheesecloth or muslin. This recipe is now ready to use to anoint your candles and should last you for six to eight months depending on your candle spellwork.

How to use your Anointing Oil on Candles;

The entire time your are anointing the candle, concentrate on the outcome you wish to achieve with your spell. For spells to attract something to the spell weaver, the candle is anointed from top to middle, then from bottom to middle; . For banishing or sending something away the candle is anointed from the centre out to the top, and then from the centre out to the bottom. To to attract something to the spell weaver, the candle is anointed from top to middle, then from bottom to middle:

Once the candle is coated in oil, it can be rolled in herbs relevant to the particular spell you are performing e.g.:

- Patchouli for wealth or monetary gain

- Hyssop for purification

- Chamomile for attracting friendship etc.,.
