Witch Hazel Beauty Treatments: DIY Witch Hazel Recipes for Beauty Night
Beauty Night Not Only Pampers Your Body but Pampers Your Soul as Well
Witch hazel is an astringent that can be used to tighten pores and remove excess oil. It is also used to clean sores and help swelling, inflammation, and bruising of the skin. It is also used in skin care because it is a strong anti-oxidant. The treatment of acne, psoriasis, and eczema are very common uses of witch hazel. It is also useful as an aftershave.
Only make as much as you need for one treatment, unless otherwise instructed. These recipes do not contain chemicals to prevent the natural ingredients from souring.
Witch Hazel Towelettes for Travel or MakeUp Remover
20 squares of white good quality paper towels
1 c Witch hazel
1 t glycerin
Cut paper towels into manageable size squares. Combine Witch Hazel and Glycerin, stirring to mix well. Pour over towelette squares and allow to stand for a few minutes to absorb all of the liquid. Stack in a covered plastic container or zip-lock style bag.
Witch Hazel Hairspray
Use witch hazel as you would use hairspray or any other holding product when styling hair.
Witch Hazel and Fuller's Earth Mask
1 T Fuller's Earth
1 T witch hazel
Mix ingredients. Spread the paste over face if it has blemishes or is oily. Rinse with tepid water.
Witch Hazel Toner
After cleansing, apply witch hazel to face using a cotton ball or cosmetic round.
Witch Hazel Hand Cream
2 t brewer's yeast
5 t witch hazel
¼ t tincture of benzoin (found at any drugstore)
Mix all ingredients to make a smooth paste. Refrigerate for 20 minutes and smear over the hands. Leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. The witch hazel and the tincture of benzoin both help to repair skin that is dry and / or irritated.
Witch Hazel Antiperspirant Deodorant
¼ c witch hazel
¼ c aloe vera gel
¼ c mineral water
1 t glycerin
5 drops of essential oils such as lavender (optional)
Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake to blend. Makes ¾ cup and has an indefinite shelf life.
