To make these original, one of a kind invitations that will be perfect for your witchy, Halloween themed party, you'll need some 8 by 10 cardstock ( at least 1 sheet for every 2 invitations).
An 8 by 10 orange cardstock ( 1 sheet for every 2 invitations)
Glue stick, scissors, a Halloween image of your choice, 1/8th inch hole puncher, 1/4th inch hole puncher, 8 by 10 white cardstock ( 1 sheet for every 2 invit
To ations) and some envelopes in fun Halloween colors to put the finished invitations in.
The first step in creating these invitations that will absolutely bewitch your friends, is to take the black cardstock and cut out on oval that's about 4 ½ inches long and 1 ¾ inches high to create the brim of the hat which your information will be placed on.
Then cut out a 4 inch high and 3 inch wide cone shape at the bottom. Glue the cone piece to the center of the hat brim.
Cut a ¾ by 3 inch strip of orange cardstock and glue it to the hat to form the band of the hat. Using your computer, photocopy an image of a witch, then cut it out and glue to the center of the orange band.
Use the hole punchers to make large and small polka dots from the remaining orange cardstock. Then glue them into place to decorate the cone.
Type up the text of your invitation on paper to make sure it will fit the shape of your hat when you cut it out. Print out the letters and glue to half of a piece of the white cardstock. Trace the shape of the decorated hat piece around the invitation text and then cut it out using the scissors. Repeat these steps until you have as many invitations as you need. These invitations are guaranteed to bewitch your guests and get them in the mood for your themed Halloween party.
Witch themed treat boxes will make an excellent party favor for your Halloween gathering. And to make your own you'll need just a few materials consisting of several pieces of 8 ½ by 11 inch white cardstock ( usually about 2 sheets for every box you'll be creating)
12 by 12 inch scrapbook paper ( usually 3 sheets for every box)
Scissors, stapler and staples, glue stick, 3 ½ inch diameter round object to use as a template such as the lid of a jar.
Pencil, scallop edged craft scissors, hole puncher and ribbons.
To make the body of your box, cut out a strip of cardstock about 3 inches wide by 8 inches long.
Cut a strip of scrapbook paper 3 inches wide by 8 inches long, and glue it to the cardstock. Bring the short ends of the strip together to form a large loop and staple it shut.
Now you'll need to make the bottom of the box and the box lid. And to do that you'll need to cut a piece of cardstock that is 4 ½ inches by 8 ½ inches. Cut a piece of scrapbook paper the exact same size and glue it to the cardstock.
Using the round template you have, trace 2 circles on the cardstock that is covered with paper, use the scallop edged scissors to cut them out. Cut 5 strips of cardstock about 1 inch long and ½ inch wide. Fold each strip in half.
Now its time to attach the bottom of the box. To do that, place one of the circles paper side up and center the body of the box on top. Take a strip of cardstock and glue half of the folded strip inside the box body. Glue the other half to the bottom circle. Glue three of the remaining strips in the same way, placing them at equal distances from each other.
Punch two holes in the top of the second circle and thread colored ribbon through the holes to make a handle for your treat box. You can fill these with candy or whatever treats you'd like to give to your guests. These treat boxes were such a hit at my last Halloween party I had to show several of my friends how to create them because they wanted to use the idea at one of their own parties. So you have the invitations and party treats done for your witching party. Now you need some fun party games to go along with your witch theme and some delicious and fun food. At my last Halloween witch themed party I cast a spell over my guests with pureed vegetables and pumpkin seed dip (which I added candy bugs and spiders to), ice cream cookie witches, and pizza with pizzazz (the pizza had fake spiders), you'd be surprised at the combinations you can come up with if you just use your imagination. Sliced mushrooms on your pizza can be 'toe of frogs' and black olives can become 'eye of newt'. You can also use small, black witches cauldrons to hold napkins, salt and pepper, extra toppings, dips, etc. A large, plastic witches cauldron is excellent when used as a container for bottled beer or drinks. And just add some dry ice for that really scary, witches 'smoking cauldron' effect. For more great Halloween party ideas visit www.halloweenideas.com
