Unable to find a coven nearby? Enjoy beginning alone with nature? Then the practice of solitary Wicca maybe the possibility for you. As an avid believer and devout follower, I have been unable to find anyone to share my beliefs where I live, thus I became a solitary practioner. I scoured bookstores, both large and small and found many books and tomes on the craft and its many different aspects, but when I didn't find was something one person could read and understand what it was like to be a solitary witch. I did not give up and found these five as my guides to continue me along the path.

The Solitary Wiccan's Bible by Gavin Frost (Suggested Retail Price $19.95) Uses the metaphor of a pilgrim walking the path to discover and embrace material and spiritual truths. The pilgrim is guided through the wilderness of falsehoods and untruths to the understanding of the spiritual realm. Down to earth and easy to understand, this book is an accessible and practical guide to understanding and the practice of solitary Wicca.

Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland (Suggested Retail Price $19.95) though geared for groups it is an invaluable self-study course in modern Wicca from history to practice. This book includes information on rituals and exercises as well as all major sects of the Craft. Even those who have practiced for many years will find the information inside helpful and even insightful.

Wicca for One: The Path of Solitary Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland (Suggested Retail Price $14.95) Some Wiccans are unable to find a coven; others simply prefer to practice along. Either way, solitary practice is a wholly authentic choice, steeped in traditions even older than those of organized covens. This book goes from becoming a witch to improving your life with magic. Let is be a guidebook and inspiration as you travel the time honored path of the solitary practioner.

Practical Solitary Magic by Nancy B. Watson (Suggested Retail Price $16.95) This book combines a concise introduction to the psychology and ethics of magic with a thorough treatment of its mechanisms. In a lively style, enhanced by personal anecdote and thoughtful insight, Nancy Watson initiates novices into the rudiments of ritual and guides one in the first steps down the magical path.

Wicca by Scott Cunningham (Suggested Retail Price $12.95) Classic introduction to Wicca. How to live as Wicca today - a gentle earth-orientated religion dedicated to the God and Goddess. Teaches about religion and how to achieve the much needed and wholesome relationship with earth as well as how to live magically, spiritually and wholly attuned with nature.

These books are but the basics and serve as guides to help one understand the Craft. There is much to explore within the realm. No longer are broomsticks needed as they say in movies, bring along an open-mind and welcome yourself into the world of Wicca.

    I think that wicca books are a good idea, the only problem is that whenever i go to a book store, there is more christian bibles than there is books on wicca. I don't feal that is right. allthough, where i live they just put in some tarot cards so i guess that is a start
