With 'Mad World', Adam Lambert Wins the Night on 'American Idol'

American Idol Adam Lambert Oozes Talent, Stage Presence and Confidence

Adam Lambert was the hands down winner of last night's American Idol final competition. With seven thousand people in attendance at the Ford Theater and millions more watching, Adam Lambert rocked the socks off the night on American idol. Adam Lambert's cool swagger, killer good-looks and out-of-this-world talent shone through all evening.

Through all three of the rounds last night Adam Lambert stood head-and-shoulders above competitor Kris Allen. Even though, in round three, Adam had to endure performing a mediocre song co-written by American Idol judge Kara.

The first American Idol round allowed the competitors to select a song from the season that they would do. I personally would like to thank Adam Lambert for selecting my favorite from the season to perform again. In a sweeping black coat that made me think of a sexy vampire, Adam crooned his way through "Mad World". Thank heaven that I was sitting down because Adam Lambert was magnificent.

With smoke swirling over the stage he descended the main staircase with the grace of a panther and the American Idol audience loved it. I loved it. Randy, Kara and Paula loved it. Our cynical American Idol judge Simon thought it "a little bit over theatrical." I don't think so Simon.

American Idol round two allowed producer Simon Fuller to select the songs for Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. Adam Lambert did the R&B from Sam Cook, "A Change is Gonna Come". At first I was a bit concerned about Adam Lambert doing R&B. Could he do that?

Of course he could with all the talent and confidence that has come to define the American Idol winner that Adam Lambert is. Randy loved it and aid that Adam could sing his face off, whatever that means. Adam Lambert had the "best interpretation of a song from the beginning" according to Paula. And even Simon joined in saying Adam Lambert was back in the game 100%.

Then poor Adam Lambert had to sing the mess that was "No Boundaries", that Kara helped to write. But like the superstar that he is, he took the material handed to him and produced a beautiful version while hitting every note perfectly. Even though Randy said it was little pitchy.

Bottom line, Adam Lambert owned the night and American Idol. I am biased for Adam, I have been since the first time we saw him in the auditions. He has stood above the competition that whole way on American Idol and he deserves to be the winner tonight.

I didn't see it, as I don't watch the show. I honestly only read this when I saw he sang "Mad world", which is one of my favorite songs! Nice job here :-)
