With Phantom of the Opera's Think of Me David Archuleta is American Idol's Golden Boy

Sings Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera

American Idol's golden boy, David Archuleta received rave reviews from audience and judges singing a tune by Andrew Lloyd Webber. David Archuleta sang "Think of Me" from the 'Phantom of the Opera.' The teenage girls in the pseudo-mosh pit up from swooned and screamed.

I think David Archuleta is truly a nice kid, but I for one am almost tired of the nice kid persona. I want him to unleash a little more personality than the one dimension we see on Idol week after week. I love "nice" but after a while, it makes you wonder what else there is.

David performed a great version of "Think of Me" from 'Phantom of the Opera' that he combined with his usual breathy conviction. I don't think it was as interesting as some performances, but it did go over well. Let's face it, this kid is in it for the long run. I knew from the moment we saw him during Hollywood week that he would be a front runner to be reckoned with.

David definitely has the teenage girl vote, but an overlooked vote I also think David has the vote of their mothers. He's the kind of teenager that parents wish they had. He seems balanced and in no way defensive or mouthy. Basically, he's the dream child and the dreamy boy next door. He has a lot of mass appeal and that counts for a lot in the American Idol competition.

I have no doubt we will see him in the top two. I just hope that David Archuleta can show us his personality beyond the sweet and sometimes bashful side we often see on American Idol. He is very close to being the entire package. I think if David Archuleta can break out from the mold that he's been given, he can be a huge success.
