With 'The Search is Over,' Scott MacIntyre Bombs on April 7's American Idol

What else can you say about Scott MacIntyre's performance other than it was awful. It is simply amazing that he has lasted this long. On a night when a lot of the performers were average or worse, he stood out as the performer that absolutely must go.

Scott sang 'The Search is Over' and after his performance, it was obvious that the search is over for the person that will be kicked off the show this week. With Kris Allen and Lil Rounds' turning in some of their worst work yet, he finally had a chance to get on safe ground and he totally blew it.

It is quite amazing that he has lasted this long as he has no stage presence whatsoever. I said it last week and I will say it again this week, who would go to see him sing in concert? If you could sell tickets to anyone but his family, I would be quite amazed.

He came onto the stage tonight with a guitar for the first time and he would have been much better off leaving it backstage. It was apparent very early that he was not a very good guitarist and then we he tried to get his groove on, it almost made you laugh at how bad the performance was.

During his post performance interview he said the guitar was bringing out his "punk side." Where has the punk side been during this entire competition? He says that his strength is in the mode of a Billy Joel as a singer/songwriter, but his performances in that model have also been disastrous. I can think of at least 2 or 3 other competitors that I would have kept on before him.
