Look no further, young wizards and parents of young wizards.
Here is your ultimate guide to making a nice collection of wizard-inspired crafts for your Harry Potter themed birthday party.
These magical craft ideas can be made in advance, as party favors or decorations These Harry Potter inpsired wizardly crafts can also be made at a party, when there is time for arts and crafts.
1. Make a Carnivorous Plant Greenhouse
Make a really cool carnivorous plant greenhouse. Make a whole bunch of carnivorous plant terrariums in fish bowls or other inexpensive containers.
Place them all in one room, with a big warning sign.
Paper crafts idea: spend time drawing and describing each plant on a piece of paper. Use real facts, plus add some made up ideas like funny nicknames for the plants. Place near the plants.
Invite your friends to your wizardly and spooking greenhouse.
Or, you can have your friends make one too, at your wizard-themed birthday party. Then you can all have fun feeding the hungry plants.
2. Make Invisible Ink: Kid Craft Idea for the Harry Potter Inspired Party
Mix up some of the wizard's favorite writing liquid: invisible ink! The easiest way to make invisible ink is to use have a parent help you cook up 1/4 cup of H20 (that's water to those of you who haven't taken wizard chemistry yet) with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch.
Have parents help you cook the water and cornstarch for about three minutes.
When it is cooled down, use something to write with - like a sharpened stick, a toothpick, a straw, or a pen that has run out of ink. Dip the writing utensil in the invisible ink mixture. Write secret wizard messages.
Give the message to someone or you can use the invisible ink to make a paper craft like a map, or to write spells in a Harry Potter inspired Spell book. Directions are here for making the Harry Potter Spell Book.
The secret message written on any wizard craft may be read when you mix 1/4 cup of H20 with 10 drops of iodine. Use a papertowel to rub a thin coat of the water-iodine mixture on the paper to reveal the secret message. Cool and wizardly, right?
3. Make Your Own Tarot Cards and Tell Fortunes
At the Harry Potter themed birthday party, you can make crafts by making tarot cards and tell fortunes. Draw pictures based on real tarot cards, and don't forget the crystal ball.
4. Costume Craft Making Contest
At the wizardly party, have a costume making contest to see which guest can make the most creative and deocrative
sorcerer's hat.
5. Make a Wizardly Party Favors with Kid Crafts
Don't forget to make some wizard crafts at the party that your guest can take home. One idea is to make a Wizards time pendant.
You an also make placemats with alchemy and astrology symbols. Have the materials ready: paper, laminate, sample drawings of alchemy and astrology symbols
