WOGA Gym (World Olympic Gymnastics Academy) in Plano, Texas is Being Bombarded by Parents Wanting to Enroll Their Kids

Success of Olympic Gold Medalists Nastia Liukin and Carly Patterson Make WOGA Gym Popular

Nikki
Here in North Texas, the WOGA gym was thrust into the spotlight by the success of gold medalist Carly Patterson at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Now, with the latest success of silver and gold medalist Nastia Liukin at the 2008 Beijing Olympics the WOGA gym has been catapulted even farther into the spotlight.

The WOGA gym located in Plano, Texas is where both Olympic medal winners Nastia Liukin and Carly Patterson were trained, and now every parent in this vicinity wants their child to be trained there because of the excellent reputation of the gymnastic coaches. The coaches are nationally & internationally recognized gymnastics professionals who make up one of the strongest coaching teams in the United States. According to a report on local news channel NBC 5 all three of the WOGA gym locations in the North Texas area are being inundated with calls for enrollment. The report said the phones have been ringing off the hook with calls from parents looking to enroll their future Olympic medalist hopeful into this world renowned gym! It would seem that the gym is trying to keep up with the high demand as they have posted on their website at http://www.woga.net that they are now hiring instructors and coaches.

If you're a parent and want to get on the list to enroll your budding gymnast in one of the WOGA gyms, here is the contact information.

Another report on local news channel NBC 5 said parents are also voicing their opinions about being upset over the controversial tie breaking system used to decide the winner in the individual competition on the uneven bars. Nastia Liukin and He Kexin tied for high score during individual competition on the uneven bars, Nastia Liukin was not awarded the gold medal but instead only got the silver medal due to a confusing tie breaking system. So WOGA gym members, parents, and fans all over North Texas are making it known that they think the new scoring system needs an overhaul. In my opinion, it seems everyone but Nastia Liukin herself is upset ... Nastia seems to have taken it all in stride and has shown great sportsmanship over the entire ordeal.

I hope all these parents of budding Olympians know what they're getting into! As for the scoring system, I think that will be gone by the next Olympics.

I agree with Rose: I think some parents see a gold mine in their kid's athletic success. Let's hope this upswing in interest is for all the right reasons!
