For a while I have been using lentils more and more in my cooking. Wanting to stray away from frozen processed vegetarian foods and soy, I was finding that lentils were becoming an excellent solution. Mostly, I was using Bob's Red Mill Organic Red Lentils in my dishes and although I was happy with them I was sure that my seasoning method for the lentils could be improved. I really wasn't seeing any foods that I could buy that had well seasoned lentils in it, but I was always keeping my eye out for something. Finally, I came across a couple cans of lentil soup and I thought that they would be perfect to try out, plus they were both organic and on sale. One of these cans was full of Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup and I was eager to try it out.

When I poured this lentil soup into the pan I intended to heat it up in I noticed that it was darker than other lentil soups that I have seen. The tone was a little bit green, I wasn't sure what made it this color but I assumed that it due to one of the vegetables used in the organic lentil soup. The thickness was about the same as other lentil soups I have seen and I didn't have to add any water when I heated it up. All that I had to do was to cook it on low heat, and stir every so often for several minutes. The soup was warmed up in less than ten minutes. During the time that the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup was heating up I looked over its ingredients to see all that was used in the lentil soup as well as what vegetable or vegetables made it so green.

The list of ingredients of the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup was very long. The organic vegetable stock that was used in the soup was made from water, organic vegetables and concentrated vegetables that included organic carrots, organic celery, organic onions and organic tomatoes. The stock also contained salt, organic autolyzed yeast paste, organic cane sugar and organic soy sauce which was made from water, organic soybean, salt and organic alcohol. The remaining ingredients of the vegetable stock in the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup were organic maltodextrin, natural flavor, organic potato starch, autolyzed yeast extract, organic dried onion, organic dried garlic and spice. The first thing that was used in the soup was not surprisingly organic lentils and following that were organic roasted potatoes, made of organic potatoes and calcium chloride, organic onions, organic carrots, organic tomatoes with organic tomato juice, calcium chloride and citric acid, organic celery and organic spinach. There was no doubt that the spinach was what turned the soup a dark shade of green. Lastly in the organic lentil soup there was two percent or less of organic potato starch, sea salt, organic honey, organic garlic and organic spice. I was amazed at all that went into the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup. I thought that it all sounded wonderful and I was curious to know what all of these wonderful organic vegetables would offer in the way of nutrition.

The nutrition facts for the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup were based off of one cup of organic lentil soup. There was about two cups in the can, so each can gave your two servings. The can of organic lentil soup was on sale for two dollars so the soup cost a dollar per bowl. In a serving of this organic lentil soup there was one hundred and sixty calories with ten calories from fat. A serving of the soup contained four hundred and ninety milligrams of sodium, twenty-nine grams of carbohydrates, seven grams of fiber, four grams of sugars and eight grams of protein. I was surprised to see that there wasn't any vitamin C listed in the minerals and vitamins section, since I know that it mentioned that some was used in the ingredients. However the minerals and vitamins section of the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup's nutrition facts it did list vitamin A with twenty-five percent, calcium with six percent and iron with fifteen percent. I thought that the nutrition facts were pretty good, for being for a canned soup and all. As for the organic lentil soup itself I thought that it tasted pretty good too. The broth was excellent and the lentils and vegetables were nicely seasoned. Everything was a good texture and the soup had a nice texture and thickness, I was glad that I decided to get it and try it out. I would recommend for anyone to give the Wolfgang Puck Organic Thick Hearty Lentil and Vegetables Soup a try as long as they like lentils.
