The small town of Kingman, Arizona was stunned when a murder-suicide rocked this quiet community. 26 year old Holly Jean Anderson was shot by her husband immediately after handing her baby to a police officer from the Kingman Police Department. One police officer that responded to the domestic disturbance call, reported at 5:40 p.m., was injured while at the house on the 3100 block of Tanner Street.

When the officer arrived on the scene, Holly Anderson talked to the officer through the cracked door. She had made unusual eye movements trying to indicate to the officer her husband was inside the house. The officer then mouthed to the woman if he had a gun. Anderson replied "Yes, I will bring the baby out."

She handed her 20 month old daughter, Baily, to Sgt. Mark Chastain through the door and just as she had, her husband shot her in the head with his 9 millimeter semi-automatic gun. The bullet that passed through her head hit the second officer responding to the call, Timothy Sparr, in the arm.

Anderson's husband, 28 year old Brad Anderson, retreated into the house where the police believed he had hostages inside. The neighborhood was evacuated and a robot armed with a camera was sent into the location. They then learned Brad Anderson had committed suicide.

Holly Anderson worked with the Mohave County Probation Department and had just recently received a promotion. She had filed an order of protection from her husband soon after filing the divorce papers. It was later learned, the protection order had been lifted April 30th for unknown reasons.

The officer that was shot at the scene, Timothy Sparr, did not suffer a broken bone and will later have to undergo surgery to remove the bullet.

This is sad. Things like this shouldn't happen. What has happened to this world.!?

Great reporting...such a sad story. This happens too often...that little girl will have a very difficult life due to her own father's heartless, selfish actions. So sad...
