Woman Killed in Sderot Israel was Muslim

Rockets Kill, World Stays Still

Sderot is an Israeli town not far from the Gaza strip, and it has been under constant attack for years. Kassam rockets are regularly fired from Gaza, piercing roofs of schools and synagogues, shattering stores and injuring and killing residents.

The Israeli evacuation of the territories in the Gaza strip has acerbated the conflict, making it easier for Palestinians to hit nearby Israeli towns. Palestinians seemed to be more interested in destroying and hurting their cause than taking advantage of the newly acquired villages. In fact, they notoriously demolished the formerly Israeli bug-controlled greenhouses, which could have provided millions of dollars in revenue. It's hard not to be reminded of Arafat who pocketed cash while leaving his people in poverty, just so the world would commiserate.

On Wednesday, november 14th, a woman was killed by a rocket fired on Sderot. According to the Jerusalem Post newspaper, the woman was of Muslim persuasion. She was married to a Jewish man and had just come to Israel three years ago from the Caucasus mountains.

The JPost relates that many Sderot residents were afraid to leave their houses to attend the funeral, but there was a heavy media presence.

At 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday morning, six Kassam rockets slammed into Sderot, killing Fatima Slutsker, 57, and seriously wounding Maor Peretz, 24, a security guard for Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
Slutsker was a Muslim woman who came from the Caucasus Mountains in the Former Soviet Union just three years ago with her Jewish husband.
An eyewitness in a store nearby said she had crossed the road seconds before the rocket landed, and had been waiting for her husband, who was still on the other side of the street.

[...]They said it took hours to gather body parts, which were scattered in a 50-meter, and bones and legs were found on the top of the trees and on car windshields.

I agree with Judith. The violence is to get attention and I don't think they care too much who is hurt.

I'm afraid they probably don't care that she's muslim if she's married to a jewish man. I don't think I will ever understand this type of war - well, maybe I don't ever WANT to understand it.
