Woman Prostitutes Herself Through Craigslist for World of Warcraft

L. Vincent Poupard
In an attempt to make her character stronger in the online game of World of Warcraft, a woman has prostituted herself. Yet another sign as to how consuming the online game has become.

In a posting on Craigslist on 4/8/07, the player stated that if someone were to transfer 5000 gold pieces to her account to purchase an epic flying mount, then that person can, "mount," her. It stated that she wanted whoever was going to do this to send her a picture so that she could evaluate the perspective, "John."

Word traveled fast in many online gaming communities about this. Her picture was plastered on many message boards throughout the night. The posting player stated that her email was full with messages from people that were interested in taking her up with her offer.

In a response that she placed on Craigslist the next day, she scolded the other players for making such a big deal out of all of this. She stated that she was able to get both things that she was looking for. She wanted both a mount for her character, and one for herself.

It is very likely now that there will be more players that will attempt stunts like this using the Internet. It will eventually end up leading to new laws that will have to govern situations like this.

This is just another statement into the subculture that has been created by online games. In the last few years, stories have come out about people who have had to have hospital stays because of lack of sleep while playing online games.

There have been stories about car accidents that have been caused because of people's lack of sleep that was caused by playing games for too many hours straight. There have been stories about people receiving permanent brain damage after not realizing that their bodies were about to give out from playing games like World of Warcraft.

Our society has seen the creation of support groups because of online gaming. There are support groups that cater to those who cannot stop playing, or for those who love them.

This has also caused for more uproar to happen over Craigslist. There are many that are attempting to push for Craigslist to monitor the postings before they hit the site. There is very little regulation that goes into postings on the site.

Ebay ownership made a statement about four months ago that they were considering on banning the sale of characters and e-items that were from the World of Warcraft and other online games. There has not been official word on their decision. Trade still happens.

You should know wow gold, or World of Warcraft Gold if you play this game. I can say so: each gamer want to buy wow gold to promote their character level easily, more warcraft gold and wow money they own, more items they can buy in game. While we provide you cheap wow gold, surely you can get them at cheap prices.

All right. Let's get this whole thing into focus here: we only hear about the extreme when it comes to gamers because that is what will make news and give people who write articles like this a job. We don't hear the "real" behind it- how many people have prostituted themselves on World of Warcraft? So far, we have reported... one. Wow. Big, huge phenomenon there! So let's report how many people are actually playing the game and taking it in moderation... a lot? I don't know the official number because no one wants to report people doing the right thing, so OF COURSE we only get the "bad side" of things. Everything at some point is abused- because someone abuses MMO games is no reason to call out the mob. Alcohol and drugs are still a hundred times worse at killing people than MMO games. So please, relax and let the gamers play. Just like people pay for their cigarettes and acquire cancer, if people want to pay for their games and acquire "sleep deprivation," let them. Leave it alone.
