Women and Abortions, a Controversial Subject

Bradley D
The debate about whether or not a woman should be allowed to have an abortion has been going on for years. The Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade ruled that "A non-viable fetus (one that cannot survive outside the womb) is not a person according to the terms set forth in section one of the Fourteenth Amendment, so due process rights do not apply to the unborn."

I disagree with this. When you kill a developing baby, you are taking away the right of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Just because a woman doesn't want to give birth, she's going to take away any chance a baby had for a life. Instead of having a baby, and putting it up for adoption, so someone who unfortunately can't conceive kids can take it, they would rather kill it. I believe that in some cases such as mental or physical retardation or rape/incest, then abortion should be allowed, because the woman never intended on having kids. But when two teenagers decide they don't want to protect themselves, then it's their fault. Bank robbers don't intend on getting caught, but they have to deal with the consequences. They make the choice to take a chance. Just like a woman may not intend on becoming pregnant, but if she does, she better be ready for a kid.

It's not that a woman decides she doesn't want to have kids; the fact is she decides she doesn't want a baby to be born. You don't have to keep the kid when it's born; just go put it up for adoption. Hopefully, the kid will have a life it deserves, with someone who would actually appreciate it.

I believe in pro-life. I'm also pro-"choice." You should have the "choice" to either keep your baby, or put it up for adoption. It's really not a hard subject. Simply don't have unsafe sex, and you will not have to worry about getting pregnant. If you do not have safe sex, and have a child you don't want, it's your fault. If the woman does intend on having children, but finds out at one time or another that the child she is going to conceive is going to be retarded mentally or physically, or if the woman is the victim of any kind of sexual assault then, the woman should have a choice to have an abortion.

Finally, some facts to think about. Number of abortions worldwide per day: Approximately 115,000. Number of abortions in United States per day: Approximately 3,700. Every day, 3,700 unborn Americans lose their right to life, they lost a battle they didn't even get a chance to fight in.
