Ellen Lauri Ochoa
Ellen Lauri Ochoa was born in 1958, in Los Angeles, CA. She obtained her bachelor of Science degree in physics at Santiago State University, and her masters and doctorate in electrical engineering at Stanford University.
Research
Ochoa is a pioneer in space technology. "She patented an optical system to detect defects in a repeating pattern." She is also co-inventor of three patents for an optical inspection system".
Ochoa studied optical system for performing information processing at Sandia National Laboratories and NASA Ames Research Center. She is Chief of the Intelligent Systems Technology Branch.

Ellen Lauri Ochoa was the very first Hispanic woman in space.
The astronauts were studying the ozone layer on her mission aboard the Endeavor. Her duties included:crew representative for flight software and computer hardware and robotics. She also was an assistant for Space Station to the Chief of the Astronaut Office, mission specialist, flight engineer , lead spacecraft communicator(CAPCOM) in Mission Control, and as acting as Deputy Chief of the Astronaut Office. She has over 1,000 hours in space.

Janice Elaine (Ford) Voss astronaut and engineer
Education
Bachelors in engineering from Purdue University. She received her masters of science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. In 1987, She received her doctorate in aeronautics/astronautics from MIT.
Working History
Dr. Voss worked for Orbital Sciences Corporation, a company which specializes in satellite launch and manufacture.

Dr. Voss has flown on 5 different space flights as a missions specialist since 1990.
" Voss was the Science Director for NASA's Kepler Space Observatory, which launched in March 2009, from October 2004 to November 2007. She is now the Payloads Lead of the Astronaut Office Station Branch
