1- Re-brand yourself.
Don't identify yourself based on your shortcomings. Focus on what sets you apart from others. List out your talents and try to earn money with them. If all you can do is bake cookies, sell them to neighbors. Ms. Field's is a millionaire off of her recipes for these treats. You can be one too.
2- Change your lifestyle.
Newly divorced women often struggle to make ends meet. A way to rebuild your finances is to change your lifestyle. Modify your daily activities. Instead of going to Starbucks, make your own coffee. Pack your lunch for work. Cook homemade pizzas. Have family game nights. Do what you can to lessen your financial load until you bring in more money.
3- See a financial expert.
You can splurge on one or meet a financial expert at your local community center for a minimal fee. What you receive in return is clarity about the big green. You learn how to balance your checkbook, invest money and save for retirement. Meet with a financial expert and ensure your children a legacy of abundance.
4- Go to court if necessary.
Sadly, some men refuse to pay their divorced wives child support. After the union ends, so does the money. If you are facing this type of situation, rebuild your finances by going to court. Get the law to on your side. Ask for a garnishment of your ex's wages. Give yourself the peace of mind of knowing that you will receive regularly payments each month.
5- Find a better paying job.
Take a course. Go to school. Ask for more work. Do a project. Use whatever opportunities you have to obtain a better paying job. Avoid getting stuck. Let go of your excuses. Trade in the time you spend watching Lifetime and other TV networks that only entertain you for a productive activity that can push you forward in your career and finances.
6- Get outside assistance.
A final way for a divorced woman to rebuild her finances is to get outside assistance. Allow your extended family to help with bills. Apply for special programs. Let Uncle Sam supply your groceries. Refuse to allow pride to stop you from moving forward. Then, when you finally get on your feet, stand and give back to others.
Use these six suggestions and you will improve your finances. You may see only lint in your wallet now, but with time, you will see dollar bills.
