But just for one moment let us imagine. Imagine a young woman being abducted. Her perpetrator straps her to a table and tells her she is going to die. Imagine the horror of just knowing that alone. He leaves her there for a while, so she can ponder on that.
Soon he returns, with a set of syringes. Because he is not a medical technician, and untrained after much effort he locates a vein that is suitable to inject and does so. She falls into a anestisured state. While she is in that state of unconsciousness he locates another vein and injects her with a muscle relaxer, that will soon paralyze her. While this takes effect, the first drug wears off, and she is paralyzed, unable to move or speak out but very much conscious of what is going on. The mental torture alone is cruel, never mind what is to come next.
And finally he injects the third drug into her, this one feels like fire going through her veins. It causes her heart to explode and causes excruciating pain, until she is finally dead.
The next day the papers read "Woman Killed In Cruel And Unusual Manner." The perpetrator is said to have committed a "heinous crime." Because after all this was a cruel and unusual death.

Post a CommentIt would be nice if you got your facts right. The first drug given is Sodium Thiopental, which induces coma; in normal anesthetic doses, this allows a person to regain consciousness in about 10-15 min. During executions, however, mega doses are given, which ensure that the murdering bastard (unfortunately, I think) is actually not conscious to realize what else is going on. I think it would actually be great if we could skip this drug altogether, and simply paralyze these morons before giving them the potassium chloride, which causes their heart to stop, not "explode."
As always Dee...my comments aren't meant as a personal attack! It's just the way I see things. You always have my respect and I do understand what you are trying to do. ;-)
The only real problem I have with the death penalty is the possibility that an innocent person could be and have been put to death. The State putting an honest to goodness murdering soulless killer out of everyones misery doesn't bother me in the least. I guess because I see these types of people at least 5 days a week. Is it a effective deterrent...NO! Monetarily is it effective for the state...No! If one of my children were murdered would I want the murderer to be put to death...YOU BET! In my eyes that would be...let me see...whats the word I'm looking for...oh ya now I've got it...JUSTICE!
