Women in Politics. Get to the Back of the Bus!

Women and High Office

Sherry Tomfeld
It has become increasingly clear that GOP women should not run for high office. While waiting for throngs of GOP men to line up in outrage over Bill Maher's use of 2 watt and the c-word I gained 5 pounds. They didn't do it. Men of BOTH parties should have taken every opportunity they had in front of the camera to speak out about this kind of language. Even more upsetting is the fact that the women already in office, of both parties, were painfully quiet about the "incidents".

Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are great to have around if you want support for a candidate or if you want more money raised than any man can. If you want a stadium full of people to hear your message, put one of these two women on the speakers list.

Women like them are alright to have around as tokens, but lets make sure to stifle their opinions. If you aren't in the mood for truth that can hurt, you don't want to listen to Palin and Bachmann speak. They get hundreds of thousands of people to drink the "kool-aid" and be inspired to take back the country they think has been lost. GOP men are plenty inspiring without the female counterparts stepping in. After all, we all know how McCain packed them in before Palin came on board.

So what is the GOP going to do with the women of their party? They're going to put them in the back of the bus. They're going to snidely cut them to ribbons any chance they get. They're going to "wink and nod" their way through campaigning with and against them. And afterward they will tell us how they knew these good hearted women were just not quite good enough to get voted in. They will hint at the women being too busy with children's problems and trying to multi-task too much. There will be mention of lack of education and experience. Maybe even a reference to them being middle class. Every word that the women speak will be gone over with a fine toothed comb.

This country can put a Catholic or a black man in the White House, but it halts in fear of having a woman. We've all seen how the Democrats pulled the switch-a-roo on Hillary Clinton. We watched Sarah Palin take the fall for McCain's loss.

If women of both parties can't see through the lies and myths that are drug out about their female candidates by MEN, they have only themselves to blame. "She's not smart enough." "She has children at home." " How can she look that good?" "She's ugly." "She's stupid." These are all remarks about both Clinton and Palin from the lips of women.

Until women are tired of being at the back of the bus in both parties, the good old boys will continue to drive it.

One of the greatest con jobs in history is that males are the superior gender but the fact is that males and women are not equal. Women have always been and will always be far superior to most males. Now that women are getting an equal chance, women and even girls are surpassing most males in almost every area. If this has happened in only the last 20 or 30 years, how much more will they leave males in the dust in another 20 years? Even though it looks like there will only be a few advantages out of thousands of ways for being a male, I am glad it is women and not us males who are the superior gender. I think women should be driving the bus and the males are the ones who need to get to the back of the bus.

FANTASTIC points, Sherry... "We've all seen how the Democrats pulled the switch-a-roo on Hillary Clinton..." If you hadn't said this, I would have added it as a comment. So glad someone besides me realizes this! If I were Hillary, I never would've gone to work for O's administration.

Through the millenia, women have borne the most burdensome tasks. It's in our nature to pick up the swath and swill men leave behind. What the GOP holds up as women leaders the progressive party tears down. So much for the equality liberals like to tout.
