Decide to Ride Yourself
Men would never be happy sitting behind the motorcycle rider. They want to feel the handlebar grips and crank that throttle. Some women may be like that too. I was like that when I rode; I loved being in control.
If you ride with a lot of people, it is more common to see women with their own bikes. Each has their own reason for owning and riding their own motorcycle and deciding to ride your own motorcycle is a personal choice. You can not be convinced to do it, or should I say, you should not be convinced to ride your own motorcycle.
Just because some of your friends ride their own motorcycle is not a good reason for you to do it. Just because your husband or significant other thinks it is cool to have you riding your own bike beside him is not a good reason either.
Riding a motorcycle is a personal decision that you should make on your own. You need to want to do it for yourself, not because other women do it. Should you feel bad sitting on the back of your spouse's bike while your friends ride their own? Absolutely not.
It's Okay to Prefer to be a Passenger
Being the one operating the motorcycle takes practice and experience. Most will tell you that motorcycle riding is relaxing. This is true, but that operator still must be paying attention to the road and other vehicles. I saw a lot more scenery when I was on the back of the bike then I did while at the handlebars.
I decided that I preferred to be on the back. I enjoyed just sitting there watching scenery go by. I am okay with that decision and you should be too. Yes, I know a lot of women who do ride their own motorcycle. I am okay with that too, because that is their decision.
The point is, you should never let someone convince you to try riding your own motorcycle if you really do not want to. Doing it because your friends do, or because your significant other might want you to is not a good reason to ride your own motorcycle.
Most motorcyclist believe in the motto "Let Those Who Ride Decide." Those who don't should feel good bout their decision as well. If you force yourself to ride your own bike, you will be nervous and possibly a danger. You may lose your enthusiasm for motorcycling if you feel forced into riding your own bike. Deciding to ride a motorcycle is a personal decision. It is okay if you want to ride your own bike. It is also okay if you do not.

Post a CommentMe and motorcycles do not mix, but cool article!
Wonderful article and so true. I loved riding my motorcycle until those around me starting having accidents. When my bike bit the dust while someone else was riding it, I decided not to buy aother for me. Many motorcycles came in and out of our lives for years after that, but I decided to be a passenger, also.
Been there. Done that. Too old now. But I miss it!
