Wondering if you should replace your old lipstick? You know, the one that got you through a job interview and late night date. Before you swipe your lips one more time, learn the signs that you should throw away your make-up. They could help you avoid getting sick.

Sign #1: You get a rash.
Never ignore signs from your body. If you get a rash after wearing your make-up, toss all of your products in the trash. Whether you can see any harmful contaminants on your make-up or not, the end results tell the full story - your skin is reacting negatively to "something" in or on your make-up and your make-up should be put out the pasture.

Sign #2: The color is off.
Fading/darkening color is a sign your make-up is expiring. Air and other elements are oxidizing the chemicals in the ingredients and changing their hue. Although make-up in this state can't necessarily hurt you, the quality of your look will be substandard.

Sign #3: Your make-up smells.
Mascara or foundation emitting a foul odor is a sign of bacteria. Bacteria can cause boils and other unsightly blemishes. Throw away your make-up before get a reaction that sends you to a doctor.

Sign #4: The case is broken.
Broken casing on shadow or blush normally opens the item up for fungi and other forms of contamination. You don't want to waste energy using make-up that can harm you or cause affection. Also, without the casing, things get messy. Stay safe and decrease your amount of application time by replacing items with replicates.

Sign #5: Your make-up is old.
Did you know that most mascara is only hygienic for three to six months? Afterward, bacteria can form and attach to your eyelids. You know the rest of the story. Infection. Pain. Trips to the doctor. Don't let this be you. Throw away your old make-up. Anything you've had over six months probably isn't good any more and will affect you physically.

Sign #6: Your make-up gets wet.
Water usually compromises the dynamics of most make-up. Either, this liquid thins out the item or breaks it apart. As a result, if you dropped your favorite gloss in a sink full of water, don't try to retrieve this item. Cut your losses and get another one.

See yourself in any of these signs? Good. Throw away your make-up and refurbish your purse or make-up bag with fresh, new items. Your face will thank you.
