Women Support in Democratic Primary Taken a New Dimension

The race for who gets cash and support from women voters during this forthcoming Democratic primaries is taking another dimension, as all the three front tiers candidates are vigorously equipping themselves with new tactics in welcoming women into their campaign.

Last week was Hillary turn, when her camp came up with the new group called "Club 44." A group supposedly comprises of women from the age of 18-34. The kickoff event was held in Washington D.C with generational singers such as Babyface and the last year American Idol season finalist.

I was fortunate to be around the area during the event. The crowd was not really hippie generation as they reported. It was mostly those in their late 40s and up. Hillary kickoffs the event with power all the power women in the Democratic establishment.

During the same week, Elizabeth Edwards generally loved by women of all ages, because of her steadfastness, authenticity and down-to-earth personality, kickoffs a birthday fundraising event for her husband John Edwards.

According to a report from their campaign office, they received tremendous responses from women across the country wishing John Edwards a blessed happy birthday. According to them, more than 10,000 voters responded to Elizabeth's call.

This week may now be turn of Michelle Obama who in the past weeks had been surrogating for her husband across the country in both fundraising and meeting voters. According to information reaching me from the campaign office, Michelle Obama will be conducting a conference call with "Women for Obama" on June 24, 2007. The conference call is slated at 6pm, and both Michelle and David Plouffe will host it.

In an email sent by Betsy Myers, the Chief Operating Officer of Obama for America and co-chair of Women for Obama, she calls on women supporters to "invites friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to support Women for Obama." A house party similar to the one her husband hosted last March 31, is slated for June 24 at 6pm for all women supporters. Each host is expected to raise $250 for the "movement." More details here.

Michelle Obama is generally loved across the country for her thoughtfulness, sincerity, understanding of women concerns, and her strong and independent zeal. A woman supporter of Obama who speaks with earlier today told me " Barack and Michelle Obama understands the challenges that face women and families. They both have an extraordinary ability to speak to those hungry for a new kind of politics, and a singular focus on a brighter future for us and for our children."

In this year election, women voters are going to make the difference. In the Democratic primary, they constituted an incredible 59% of the vote. In the coming weeks, the battle for women votes will continue to hit the airwaves.
