Body: Women were treated as slaves to their husbands. I always found it funny that men treated women as slaves to them back in the day and occasionally still do, but it is because of a woman that they are even alive to begin with. Without women, men would not be here. Only one man would be here and he died many, many years ago.
Supportive of feminism has become more and more popular over the years. More women have started to get involved with what other women are trying to achieve whether it be through domestic violence, helping women and children in other countries or just being involved in the lives of other women.
Pro-feminism or supportive of feminism means that you are supportive of what feminists are doing but that you are not necessarily a member of the feminist movement. Usually this refers more to a man's active role in the support of feminism and any efforts they are a part of when it comes to helping women gain gender equality. Many men are involved with helping women to gain their rights and they are also members of organizations that are against domestic violence against women. In most of the nations in the Western world, there are pro-feminist men's groups that include anti-violence work with boys and young men who are still in school. These places also offer things like sexual harassment workshops in workplaces, counseling male perpetrators of violence and running community education campaigns.
Men are becoming more and more involved every year with the production of feminism. Which in turns means that some of our earliest ancestors are very grateful and very happy with the things they endured back in the early 1920's just be able to vote. Who would have ever even thought that one day men and women would both work together to achieve equality rights. I think it's very fascinating and I am very proud of those men who stand up for women and give them a chance to show everyone that of which they can do.
Of course, men are not referred to as feminists and are most often called "Pro-feminists". Men who are on the opposing side and who think that men who vote for women are weak. I have only this to say, "Shame on you." It's too bad there can be more men who stand up for the rights of women. However, a bid "Thank you," is owed to the men who help and support feminists. Without them, some of the fine things that have been achieved today might still be underway in progress.
Men who are supportive of women are also supportive in their own work as well. Such as men's health, activism against pornography including anti-pornography legislation, the development of gender equity curricula in schools men's studies. This sometimes involves collaboration with feminists and women's services, such as domestic violence and rape crisis centers.
It's amazing how far feminism has come in the past few decades. I know that it will continue to come along even further with the amount of support of the women who make it an everyday strive to continue to give other women our rights. If you are supportive of women's rights, good for you. If you are not supportive then join in. It's the year 2007, it's about time to drop the attitude and strike a pose to the movement of women's rights.
