Women's Hairstyle Trends for Fall 2009

Jamie Brown
If you're a woman who is searching for some new trendy hairstyles for Fall 2009, consider these ideas, which may be very popular this season.

No Eyebrow Sweeping Bangs

Last year, eyebrow length bangs became very popular among women from every age group. Due to the natural progression of trends in fashion and hair, I believe that bangs will go out of styles and people will go back to either revealing the forehead (pulling the hair back with a headband) or long swooping bangs that either fall over one eye or both sides of the head. Once those shorter bangs grow back in, I think that women will choose to keep the length.

If eyebrow length bangs survive into fall 2009, I believe that it will be trendy to sweep them backwards into feathery styles (along with the rest of the hair).

Edgy

Because of the popularity of "Twilight" and the wild edgy hairstyles of its stars, a very "edgy" look will likely be trendy this Fall 2009. Women may even copy the hairstyles of the male co-stars. Big, jagged, and unruly will probably be in. Girls may go for the "just rolled out of bed but I spent two hours to achieve this just rolled out of bed hair" look. Some of the most daring women may also take it a step further by cutting their hair into shorter mullet and fro-hawk styles.

Long Curls

Because of the colder weather that comes in the Fall, any style that covers the ears and neck will be popular and trendy with women. I think that bone straight hairstyles will fall flat (pun intended). They have been trendy for many seasons in the past. Women may go for extreme large curls that fall around the face and neck instead. These are the curls that are achieved with a jumbo curling iron or large magnetic rollers. You can either finger out these curls or shake your hair a little and leave them as is.

Shoulder Length

In the past, we've found either extremely short or extremely long styles to be trendy, but this Fall 2009, I think that people will like swept shoulder length hair styles. Instead of curling the ends, you can cut them bluntly to brush against the shoulder and keep them in line with a good flat iron. But the hair needs to have some body--again, I don't think that bone straight styles will be very popular this Fall. We will see!
