Wonderful Fall 2009 Wedding Trends

Fall Wedding Trends from the Cake to the Dress and Beyond

Laura Ewers
It's the best and most important day in most people's lives, especially the woman's. I was just married last year and I still remember it like it was just yesterday. This year the trends are similar and yet different than in the past. Here are some changes to be noted and ideas to help you plan a wonderful and trendy fall wedding.

First of all the hot colors this year are:
Reds
Purples
Creams
Black
Honey Yellow
Jade
Gold
Oranges (Burnt Sienna)
Warm Olive
Rose Tones
Jewel Tones (Plum, Navy, Amber, Garnet)
And probably the hottest color is Gray
Followed by the pairing of silver and royal purple.

Another big change this year from years past is that the wedding itself is going from large lavish productions to smaller more financially conscious gatherings. Some of the hot places to have a fall wedding this year include:
Country/ or Farm
Vineyard
Backyard
Really anywhere outdoors and laid back

The hot thing this fall for centerpieces is a mix match of vases, jars, buckets, or other artistically designed containers with fresh fruit such as blueberries, grapes and raspberries in them. Also try using sand or candy for other colorful and unique creations. Don't forget the floating candles in tall glass vases. This with some simple greenery will make a magical, romantic setting perfect for a fall wedding.

Also another thing to take note of this fall is that the wedding cake is back. NO, those super cute dessert bars and cupcakes aren't leaving the scene completely. However, it's also not those over the top sky-high sugar creations that are in the spotlight this year. In fact, this year the 2-tiered cake is what's HOT. Along the similar simplistic trend is also to pair these adorable little cakes with vintage styled toppers.

This leads me into the final big change for fall 2009. This year's themes are about having vintage inspired weddings. Borrowing or finding pieces from the 1920's and 1940's is very popular right now. Everything is romantic, a little gothic but not in the typical sense more of the antique 1920's poetic style. Even the wedding dress itself is being accompanied by some of these antique touches, such as birdcage veils, feathers in the hair, and fascinators.

What a romantic and wonderful season for weddings this fall will be. With the pairing of vintage styles, modern silhouettes, and bold color choices the smaller budget friendly weddings this fall will still feel and look like a million bucks.
