Woody's Valentine's Day Aphrodisiac Dessert

With a Combination of Godiva Chocolate, Strawberries and Whip Cream, Who Needs Cupid?

Michael Grisso
Many are always looking for new things to do for the woman or man in their life on Valentine's Day. Men trying to be more creative than just buying flowers, women trying to buy something other than cologne, boxers, and the occasional watches. However through it all dinner is usually the "norm" for most, trying to find that cozy restaurant for two with elegant wine classes, proper servers, and just a loving, private type of atmosphere.

After a delicious meal you look forward to some sort of "chocolate heaven" that just translates into a longer evening for the both of you. You may enjoy a good piece of chocolate mousse covered in chocolate sauce complimented with a fantastic port wine to end the dinner. Then of course you may just like a box of heart-shaped candies you picked up at the gas station for $0.99 that have those "cutesy" writings on them. Either way somehow dessert becomes a defining moment for the rest of the evening.

This year Woody is going to help you be a little more creative. One of the first things you'll need to do is make sure that you skip dessert at dinner. No matter your gender tell the other you've prepared dessert already and its waiting at home. Of course if this is a date of some sort ask the bartender to make it for you.

Things you'll need:

Godiva Chocolate Liqueur: You can purchase this for about $14-$17 at your local liquor store for 375ml

Strawberries: you should have no problems finding strawberries over Valentine's Day at your local grocery store. Try to buy a couple baskets so you can take out the biggest ones. If you can find Quinault strawberries they are the best.

Whip Cream: You definitely don't have to go all out and make homemade whip cream or anything of that nature, but it will be the most efficient if you just get a couple cans of whip cream. You'll understand in a minute.

Chocolate Sauce: We aren't talkin' Hershey's chocolate syrup in a bottle that you use to make chocolate milk! No this is the straight from the can dark, thick chocolate. Still buy the Hershey's but if you don't know what we are talking about its a black label with gray Hershey letters and usually a yellow plastic lid. Under$5.

Okay lets get started.

#1 Obviously make sure your strawberries are cleaned and you've chosen the ones you would like to use. Get as many as possible because this is addicting.

#2 Place them on a plate that you feel is going to fit all the strawberry halves on and make sure the inside of the strawberry is facing up. You can position them however you like, but if you want to get a lot on place them in a circle starting from the outside and working your way to the middle.

#3 Pull out your Whip Cream cans. You will probably only need one can for now (for the strawberries!) but you will be able to dab a little mound of whip cream on top of each strawberry halve. Make sure to cover them all unless of course you are not a whip cream fan.

#4 Now its time to break out the Hershey's chocolate sauce. You will not want to make a large hole that you would normally to pour it all over ice cream. Instead just poke a tiny hole so you may use this for decorating the entire plate. Seriously, make a VERY TINY HOLE.

#5 Depending on whether or not you are right or left handed you will want to take the can in hand and pour from a left to right or right to left motion rather quickly from the top of the plate to the bottom. If you didn't make the hole to wide it will look like strings of chocolate over not only the plate but on top of the strawberries and whip cream as well. Of course if you would like to just top each one you can do that as well, but stringing the chocolate makes it look like an elegant dessert. Its all up to you.

#6 You also may want to add chocolate around the outside of the plate whether its little dots or whatever decoration if any that you want.

Your done. The only thing left to do is to eat them! Question is how does the Godiva Liqueur figure into this equation?

How To Work It:

#1 When serving use 2 short rocks glasses if available.

#2 If you have a pour spout simply do a 4 or 5 count to make your Godiva Chocolate shots.

#3 The idea here is to place a strawberry half covered with whip cream and topped with chocolate sauce in your mouth start to chew on it and then take a drink of the Godiva. **Note you do not have to use them as shots you can simply drink them**

One right after the other they will go down, you'll be grabbing more Godiva Liqueur until eventually you run out or, well, you know. If you are a guy reading this you will get all kinds of brownie points for doing this and you don't have to be Betty Crocker to make it. If you are a woman and reading this pass it on to your man!

Woody you forgot to mention your role in the whole gala (I know, don't say it). A very creative article that will pluck the heart strings of many couples. Great job on this!
