web site, provided your hosting meets some basic requirements. Once installed, WordPress
can be used for two different items: posts and pages.
Posts are thought of as an entry in a log. These can be assigned a category and are organized in the database used for WordPress.
Pages are more detailed, in that they use the template selected for your site, and are stand alone items. Pages will show in the main navigation for WordPress and are best used for things such as about pages.
Now, if you have posts and pages already in your WordPress blog, then comes the more difficult part, managing and editing them. We will briefly go over how to do this, starting with posts and then moving on into dealing with pages.
Posts
To do anything with Posts, from within the control panel located Posts in the left side navigation. Click the downward arrow to the right of Posts to drop down a list of options. Select Edit.
You will see a listi of posts currently on your site. Find the post you wish to manage and hover over it. This will bring up four links under the post name: Edit, Quick Edit, Delete, View.
Edit Post
On the Posts page, select Edit. The post contents will be displayed for you to edit. Once finished editing, click Update Post.
Quick Edit
If you wish to edit the post information, not the content, quick edit will assist you with this. Select quick edit instead of edit above and follow the rest of those directions.
Delete
To delete a post, select Delete. A confirmation window will appear.
If you are sure you wish to delete this post, click OK. Otherwise click Cancel to not remove.
View
Selecting view will bring up the selected post, as it appears on the site currently. There should be an edit link at the bottom of the post, which will bring you right back to the control panel with the article available for editing as in the edit post section.
Pages
To work with pages, from within the control panel, locate Pages on the left side navigation and click the downward arrow to drop down a list of options. Select Edit.
You will see a listing of pages on your site. Locate the page you wish to manage and hover over it. This will bring up four links under the page name: Edit, Quick Edit, Delete, View.
Edit Page
Select Edit. The page contents will be displayed for you to edit. Once finished editing click Update Page.
Quick Edit
If you wish to edit the page information, not the content, quick edit will assist you with this. Select quick edit instead of edit above.
Delete Page
Select Trash. A confirmation window will appear.
If you are sure you wish to delete this post, click OK. Otherwise click Cancel to not remove.
View
