Words Are and Are Not

Weird Words: A Haiku Sextet

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Words mean what they say
Unless they really do not
They sometimes distort.

The taxidermist
May not tip the cab driver
Or stuff him at all.

The handsome fortune
May be and bring ugliness;
All gold's not golden.

When a player plays,
The one who is being played
Is not having fun.

Hopes do not take wing,
The crocodile does not cry;
But many flies fly.

The right is often not
The left may not just be out;
Which is which matters.

    Words are strange. Sometimes when you are looking for the right word, you have to look in the opposite direction.
